Just added a bar of 'Pears' to the shopping list, love the smell.

For shower gel we use Sanex as you can buy the larger refills

Back in the late 60's me and my student mates got a summer job in Port Talbot steelworks. After a shift I proudly produced a can of Gillette Rightguard aerosol, bought by my Mum, and did my armpits, crown jewels and bum.
Twenty minutes later, driving them home, they were screaming as loud as me as I attempted to drive standing up to alleviate the excruciating burning below!

Proper razor, proper brush and Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood. Beautiful scent so no aftershave needed.
Aftershave: In the 70's we'd walk into the Top Rank on a Saturday night and get asphyxiated by clouds of Old Spice and Hi Karate
I have dry skin and once washed my hair with soap. Next day my shoulders looked like the top of Mt Fuji.
So I've always used Dove in the shower.
I had a chest examination years ago and the nurse could not get the pads to stay attached. She said "What do you shower in?"
I said "The nude". (No I didnt).
I said "Dove" and she said "Thought so, it's a nightmare".

A nurse asked me if I had trouble passing water. I said that I did feel a little dizzy driving over the Severn bridge.

Had to do a bit of shopping and got annoyed at the price of shower gel that means I’m easily paying over 100 a year just for that one item and my mind wandered to what we used before… a bar of soap!

Looked at it on the other shelf and good ones would only cost about 8 pounds to get a whole year’s supply, but who still uses soap bars? (well I’m switching back after seeing the price diff)



What do you still use that’s less popular/fashionable nowadays because its been replaced with something a lot more expensive/convenient that doesn’t actually do the job any better?

I’ve gone back to wet shaving with a safety razor. Maybe my whiskers have thickened, stiffened but I’ve found electric razors no longer give me a decent shave. I didn’t skimp and buy cheap electric razors, and I wasn’t shy when replacing blades.

A wet shave gives my a closer shave, the downside being the amount of times I draw blood.
