I played in a match play over the weekend and got off to a good front 9 finishing 4 up picked up the 10th through a strange set of circumstances 5 up after 10 but was then trying to hold my own 1 up going down the 18th. Initial feelings was i had a very bad back nine at one point losing 3 in a row. HOWEVER it did me good to really review each hole after the event and recognised that the 3 in a row he won with outstanding golf, i did not lose. My game was ok but for those holes he played fantastic. how many of us walk away and let the emotion of the game dictate and negativley effect rather than objective review?.

It's funny, MarineMac... if I review my 2nd to last round:
I played in a match play over the weekend and got off to a terrible front 9 finishing 4 down, lost the 10th through a strange set of circumstances 5 down after 10 but was then trying to hold my own 1 down going down the 18th. Initial feelings was i had a very good back nine at one point winning 3 in a row, including index 1. HOWEVER it did me good to really review each hole after the event and recognised that the 3 in a row I won with outstanding golf, i did not win enough elsewhere through bad luck and a couple of errant shots. My game was ok but for those holes I played fantastic. how many of us walk away and let the emotion of the game dictate and negativley effect rather than objective review?

You did play well, fella, and despite the above, you deserved the win, rather than me being unlucky or anything. Well played, mate.

Just glad I didn't over-analyse and pull out of The Noades Cup on the Sunday, cos I won it!! ;)

Just played a tie tonight.

Scored 76 net 68, won 1 up

Ahem.... 32 putts, 8/13 fairways hit, only 8 GIR but 9/10 of the others I was only just off..... so left a few shots out there. Obsessive? moi?

I also enter the details of my round into ScoreSaver2, and it's surprising how often my initial impressions walking off the 18th prove to be wrong after comparing to other rounds and seeing it in metaphorical black and white.

I used to via golfshot. dont bother now as I know if my driving/tee shots were pants, putting was cack or chipping mediocre its because I am pants and no analysing will make one iota of difference for the next round :D
