Who missed out?

According to IMDB, "Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Vince Vaughn, Jamie Foxx & Will Smith were considered".

Going off topic, none of those, except maybe Hugh Jackman, come anywhere near the image of Reacher I had in my head when I read the books. The difficulty is finding someone with Reachers size according to the books, maybe Dwayne Johnson could fill it (quite like him as an actor too, but he's better at comedy). There's plenty of others with the physique, not sure on height though - Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Tom Hardy, Jason Mamoa, Henry Cavill, Mark Wahlberg, any of them would be an improvement on Tom Cruise.

When I think of Reacher, I always think of Robert Mitchum.

Mark Wahlberg is about 5'9! The new Jack Reacher probably won't be anyone massively famous because it's going to be a series rather than a film.

I don't think the size is that important for Reacher, as long as he is played 'tough'.

As for stars, a quite a few movie stars seem to go onto the small screen these days. Preferably for Netflix as well it seems.

Are you a fan of the books? Reacher's size is a massive part of them. He fills doorways. It should be someone huge & tough.

He also drinks a lot of coffee and goes on about what is the correct way to serve one. Nothing about that in any of those movies. People must be screaming for disappointment.

His size matters though, it is absolutely central to the character. When he walks into a room people notice. He intimidates physically by just being there. That doesn't happen if you are 5ft 8, I know, I'm that size and no one shudders with fear when I enter a room :ROFLMAO:. The actor needs to be big and have presence.

The coffee is a side issue, the sort of thing you expand on in a book but is surplus in a film. I get your point about it though (y)

Is that forum sizing, like forum driving distances ..... pretty sure Tyrion is a lot shorter 5ft 8 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Think Joffrey wet his pants a bit when you walked in one time...

I forget my Avatar when posting, fair point :D. Joffrey was a big wuss though, most things frightened him if he didn't have a bodyguard next to him.

Not film related but Hulk Hogan was initially offered to be the face of the lean, mean fat reducing grill. He turned it down and they went on to choose George Foreman. According to google, that is a $137m mistake!

I know it goes against most thinking but I thought Rickman in Robin Hood was so over the top and hammy that it didn't work. He was like a pantomime villain. The cancel Christmas line was plain embarrassing. I like Alan Rickman in lots of things but the director needed to bring him back on that one. Hold back on the abuse, I know most seem to love it.
Rickman played it that way on purpose, because he appeared to be the only one on set who realised that the whole thing was a panto. He openly talked about this years later - I saw some footage after he passed away, where he said he discussed the script with a friend and he said how awful it was. The friend suggested treating it like a panto, so that's what happened. The film is littered with mistakes, both in it's historical and geographical accuracy, and also in filming errors. Towards the end of the film at one point, you can clearly see the set crew and a massive *** camera :D:D:D

Rickman was the star of that show. Without him, it never would have worked.

'I'm going to cut your heart out, WITH A SPOON!'

Great film but i've always gone for "shoot the glass" as my fav quote from Mr Gruber
I like 'Ho, Ho, Ho.'

What's also brilliant is how good Jeremy Irons was in the 3rd one as his brother, Simon. It's a shame that the other Die Hards (including 2) were/are so poor. Die Hard and Die Hard 3 are superb films, and have really stood the test of time.

I can live with 2 and 4 tbh. Not the same level, but popcorn movies for a rainy day. Number 5 was absolutely tragic!
