As I type this I am the only forum member online, no fellow forumers, no Mods and no GM staff, its a lonely place...

Anyway just read an article about who was originally supposed to play Wolverine (Dougray Scott) before circumstances changed and it went to Hugh Jackman instead, for some reason I've always found it interesting to read about 'who missed out' and what difference that might have made to the film etc

And apparently before Keanu Reeves played Neo in the Matrix it was supposed to be Will Smith (but he decided to do Wild Wild West!)

Any others you know about?

We did a podcast about Die Hard last year and the original actor lined up for the role was ….. Frank Sinatra.

When the original book was written, a deal was done in the late 60s for Sinatra to play John McClane. By the time 1988 came round that was a little unrealistic so the producers had to do a deal to get out of that contract. Mel Gibson turned it down because it was too much like Lethal Weapon and Bruce Willis only got the role because Cybill Shepherd got pregnant and Moonlighting was put on hold for 13 weeks allowing Willis to make the film and change his life.

Tom Selleck was suppose to be Indiana jones

not quite in the catagory but Timothy Dalton (who was one of my fav bonds because of his intensity throughout the role) only missed out on a 3rd film because of legal issues between between UA/MGM and Eon Productions. by time bond was brought back (4 years later) him and his career had moved on.. would have loved to of seen another bond movie with him in.. however Goldeneye was just excellent

Jim Broadbent was originally penned to play Delboy Trotter but couldn't do the initial pilots due to other commitments so it went to David Jason and Broadbent as we know went on to become Slater. '

That would have been a very, very different film.

Apparently John Travolta turned down Forrest Gump. I cannot picture him in that role at all. :ROFLMAO:

Sam Neill was wanted for the role of Hans Gruber in Die Hard but rejected it. Director saw Alan Rickman on stage in London and got him into it, result arguably the best movie villain performance of all time. Sam Neill would've been quite good probably but Rickman's incredible performance was a large part of what made the film a repeat watch classic and strangely a good Christmas Film too. Amazingly a first movie role for Rickman too.

George Lazenby was advised by his agent not to play Bond again after On Her Majesty's Secret Service, in case he got type cast. Not the best career move, but Roger Moore was not complaining.

Great film but i've always gone for "shoot the glass" as my fav quote from Mr Gruber

We had that Rickman story on the podcast as well. We had the guy who played Argyle the limo driver telling stories about filming. He of course was the only person in 1988 who could use a car cell phone in an underground car park and get a perfect signal.

And don't even start me on people who don't think Die Hard is a Christmas film. "It's Christmas Theo, it's a time for miracles"

We did think if you had combined Rickman's Hans Gruber and Sheriff of Nottingham roles, you would have had the greatest Bond villain of all time.

I know it goes against most thinking but I thought Rickman in Robin Hood was so over the top and hammy that it didn't work. He was like a pantomime villain. The cancel Christmas line was plain embarrassing. I like Alan Rickman in lots of things but the director needed to bring him back on that one. Hold back on the abuse, I know most seem to love it.

Don’t watch the new one then!
