Whittington Heath Golf Club Saved....

Obviously HS2 are required to offer and agree compensation with any property or landowners that will be affected.

In this case the Club had, I believe, identified the land for the re-development and, in principle, agreed a deal some time ago.The agreement, now reached, means that deal can now be "firmed up".

Good news but still a shame to see such a great course being mucked about.

Playing at Ingestre on Saturday for the first time which is also going to affected by HS2 and been reliably informed they are going to have a complete new course and clubhouse built .

My opinion of Ingestre is, I am afraid, that any new course will inevitably be an improvement.

Oh dear , bland or badly designed holes ?

Let's just say that I cannot recall one hole and my visit was only in July. Also the ground did not seem to drain all that well as it was very soft under foot .I know that June had been rather wet but even so.........

Disappointing as I had previously heard good things.

This is great news.

Learnt to play there as a junior (it was Whittington Barracks then) and it was always a great test of golf.

Hope they can keep the heathland nature of the new holes as most of the surrounding land is farmland.
