Which tees would you play from.

We have a nice compromise at our place, during the main season we have green tees which are just a few yards in front of the whites on most holes. White tee boxes are therefore protected and are still reserved for comps only but it means we have a choice when we play social golf, shorter yellow course or longer (almost) full length course. Virtually every non-female member plays off greens every single round.

Got to agree with Westy though, at a new away track or a championship course, I'm happy with yellows. Away days need to be about having fun.

For the OP, Tashyboy, sounds like you would like to play off yellows for enjoyment? Either get a different group or start bribing your mates to mix and match? Winner each week chooses next week's tees maybe? :)

Mate, get their head around being a senior and competing with fellow seniors off the yellows at times, they might be surprised by the standard, plus they can play off whites in Club Comps, regardless of colour, they still need to hit the shots.
That is what my thoughts are, it is not just that but two of them would be good enough to play in the seniors club team.
it will be interesting next march

Play off our whites all the time, even visitors can if they ask the Pro and there not complete beginers.

Play off the yellows in most club team comps (B-team, Seniors etc) home and away, not sure why that is.

Our yellows is much tougher as our 1st & 10th both become very long par 4's instead of being comfortable par 5's off the whites.

Off the whites all the time for us. But then the yellows & whites are not that far apart - from memory l think there are only 3 holes where there is a difference of more than 20 yards

Will play off tee of the day when visiting anywhere else (ie usually yellow)

How does this happen?

I guess I mean what changes took place to the original design to mean that the course par would change simply by playing off different tees?
