Looking for a golf ball which will give me the most control and 'feel' on or near the greens, but I'm not willing to buy balls which will cut up quickly. Don't mind paying for top quality, so long as it has reasonable durability. Distance is not a priority with me. Feel and control is what I am after.

Any ideas out there? Thanking in in anticipation...

i've been very impressed with any Taylormade ball i've used.

Burner TP, Burner, TP Red... only one i've not used is the TP Black which is meant to be softer than the Red.

I actually find the Burner TP the best of the lot, straight of the tee and nice and controllable round the greens. Not too expensice either.

Have tried many balls, but always end up hitting the Burner TP again.

The usual suspects really. ProV, Z star, TM LDP, whatever the latest Nike is, etc.
I find they all cut up, and are tired after 18 holes. If it isn't tired, then it wasn't responsive enough. My clubs destroy NXT tours and AD333, so I stick with ProV.

I avoid anything with Cally written on it. They are rocks (all of them) made by Topflite (spalding). They haven't a clue how to make a responsive soft golf ball.

I must not be as fussy as most because I don't think Pro V's damage too quickly.

I was lucky enough to not lose one for a while recently and I think I played 4 rounds with it before I broke out a new one.
It had a couple of little scuffs on it but it didn't cut.

If you want a ball you can control around the greens they will cut up its the nature of the beast

Out of all the balls i have used i would say the Nike Tour and the Z Star are the most durable

A lot depends on the grooves on your clubs, especially wedges. if you've got "spin-milled", "mack-daddy", "zip" or similar grooves then they'll eat any ball for breakfast. Ordinary wedges are a little easier on them.

I can play a Z-star for 36 holes no problems and thats with new vokeys with sharp grooves. I've changed from the Pro V's as the srixons last longer IMO.

I flit between the TM Burner's, Burner TP Red, AD333's & NXT-Extreme's.

Of all, i'd say the AD333's cut up the easiest but are the nicest feeling around the greens, the TM's are straighter and I get less spin and the NXT's are the longest.

I must admit i never buy golf balls. My mother in law is a manager in a charity shop and any golf balls that come in find there way into my bag plus there is a play and pay near me that has a public footpath round it so if i run short i just go for a walk. Found 60 balls last time i did that. being fairly new to golf i tend to lose alot of balls when i play anyway and cant justify the cost of replacing them with new balls all the time

Hello,

I am usually use Pro V1 Balls because my thought is that a

good golf ball will certainly help a good golf swing lower

your scores.A golf ball with a low spin rate will roll a

lot further than the others but will provide less control

around the greens.

I would disagree with this. The Callaway Tour balls are very good in my opinion.
