You can't downgrade from a Merc to a BMW, you just become another knob on the road challenging the Audi drivers for knob of the year!

I had a C280 Elegance Estate for a few years after I had a spanking C220 Sports Coupe for a few years before, I sold the estate and went looking for something smaller engine wise and came home with a CLK320

5 series touring was great for me when I had my 535d. Definitely a car you could take on a long european adventure. Only downfall with my car at the time, being automatic and rear wheel drive, it was a nightmare in the snow. Being in Surrey, that didn't happen very often, but obviously if you're north of the border....

Honda Civic Tourer not been mentioned?! I reguarly get 74mpg on motorway runs ! and I love the look ! SR version has heated leather seats, cruise control and a billion other gadgets!

Thought I would update this, after a lot of thought, I've went for a Volkswagen Toureag R line.
Not quite the estate, but like having the bigger car for going up west.
Gets delivered on March the 20th 😀

Nice! I struggled to get in the Toureg, but had no problem getting out, thank god for gravity, unlike HID who at 5'2" got in ok but had to parachute out.
