Which Ball & Why?

Still got about 2 dozen ProV1, which I like to use in the proper golfing season. Have played with them for ages, and know how they will play.

I have a dozen Z stars, bought on a whim. Might give them a whirl, see how they go.

Also have 3 dozen Bridgestone 330RX, which I got a good deal on. They should be ok, but if not I will use them for winter golf for the next 10 years. They seem to putt ok on my putting mat.

Don't like Cally balls. Every time I have tried one, it has been a rock.

The AD333 is clearly a ball that suits the poster. Its not really a matter of people agreeing or not, its the ball he uses as it works best for him.

AD333 suits the handicap golfer better than a high spin ball, rather than blindly use PROV1s because the pros do he has decided these work better for him.

PROVS = HIGH SPIN = NOT FOR AVERAGE MID TO HIGH HANDICAP GOLFER - Handicap golfers that insist on using the same as the pros to me just says fashion victim.

Ive been using Srixon balls since the start of last year. Firstly it was the price for a dozen as I loose so many
But in fairness I've really enjoyed them. I started with the Soft Feel Srixons which I found really good around the greens with the short game and now moved to the AD333's towards end of summer. Again they feel excellent on the club face. I've tried Pro V1's an although they are a great ball I don't think I will swap to them just yet.
The Srixons work for me and I'll stick with them until further notice

I play with TP Red, Z StarX, Callaway TouriX or Pro V1X. had a fitting and found these spin less and work better for me. They all perform slightly differently but in the wing the Callaways work for me. All nice balls though.

Only problem I have, which I suppose is a good one, is that when I play in corporate golf days they always give me Pro V1s and they spin too much for me. One of my mates seems to think I like them and keeps giving me the ones he finds as well. I don't end up using them and they gather dust in the garage or sit in my car boot.

I like to use ProV1's not because I'm a fashion victim, just find them the best on the putting green. Great feel and always have better putting stats when using them.
Because I'm a high handicapper it doesn't mean that I shouldn't use a premium ball to help improve my game.

I did say, "I like to use ProV1's", but can't afford to all the time. But for me if money was no object, that's all I'd have in the bag.

Personally I like nike balls, never had a problem with them scuffing up or falling apart even on days when my driver is working and I am really connecting with them. I like to line the tick up at me on drivers as well as I find looking at text distracting (don't ask). Never used a V1 as I don't Like Titleist as a brand. My Dad using Titleist and he is an old man.....

Was using AD333 through the winter cause they cheap, soft enough to spin some, greeat feel for the short game and long enough off the tee.

Just moved back onto the Z-Star now the greens and course is firming up.

Found a Bridgestone B330-s and played 9 holes with that, awsome ball.

Generally I use AD333 but as greens get faster I find that the Pro V1 (or Callaway iS ) suit the conditions better. I lose distance with the softer ball but this is compensated by extra roll from firmer fairways.

Been using the B330-RX for a while now, really like the feel of them off the putter. Perhaps not the longest off the tee, but seems to make up for that on and around the green.

I was going to trial the Taylor made TP Black tomorrow but now you've mentioned this I remembered that i haven't got a jumper that would match them. Damn, gonna have to stick with the ProV...... cos I'm a dedicated follower of fashion

I think he was talking more 15+ handicappers and I tend to agree. Obviously, yourself playing off 3.5, hits the ball consistently enough to reap the benefit of a premium ball. Whereas I, off 20 would'nt hit the ball well enough to distinguish between a prov1 and a mid range offering.

You do yourself a diservice MarkE, i would wager that you would tell the difference. However, if you are still losing lots of balls out on the course then it makes perfect sense to go with a mid ranger.

Then they will become fashionable!

The bag is currently full of top flites, dunlop DDH and some random nikes and titleists. Some new, some old, none of which make any appreciable difference to my score.

The Callys we got free spin too much for me and most are now in a stream down the right of our 10th hole.
