The new Callaway Tour i(z) balls. Their long, get good amount of spin and pretty good for putting. They seem to be quite hard to lose to as ive still got 2 of the 3 that i got from Callaway
Is everyone playing Prov V1 because its the number 1 ball on tour??
Ive been playing a NXT Tour through the winter as its harder than the Pro V1x and I dont need the spin in the soft/wet conditions. Might go back to the Pro V1x in two or three months for the harder ground as I'll need a bit more control into the greens. We have hard, fast greens with a fair amount of slope - Its a short course and the greens offer it some protection.
I'm using the Wilson dx2 soft at the moment but I have a few doz Z-stars for summer, though I am drawn to the new Callaways, they seemed really good balls. I have kept a few back for high summer when they really do have to spin to hold a green. That's the test of a good ball for me.
I regularly play either Srixon AD333/Noodle/WilsonDX2soft.
I find no discernible difference between the three, maybe the Wilsons a bit "quieter" to putt with.
Pro V1 normally. Am a bit of a fan of callaway balls too.
Feel that both Pro V models and Callaway top of the range balls give great control around the green. Do enjoy using them.
Was trying the Srixon Z stars the other day (the softer ones) and found them good on full shots for control and spin but unresponsive around the greens. I was hitting nice agressive chips into softish greens and getting some awesome roll out, the pro V came out and it was one hop and stop. A few people I spoke to said the same thing so thumbs down for srixon for me.
I did also try the new TM ball last time out and holed a lot of putts. It was good off the tee and good with mid irons. Not quite up with the Pro V1x with chipping, a touch more roll so needed to be less agressive.
Taylormade TP Red/Black. They fly better in the wind (I can see one of the biggest windfarms in Europe from my golf course) I also find the don't quite spin as much as the ProV1, they spin to much for me.
Another fan of the TM black/red in the wind although I'm a big fan of the Z star and the new Cally's. In the wetter conditions I use a harder ball usually AD333 to try and get a bit more distance off the tee knowing that it'll still stop on the green
I've a mate who plays whatever he can find, though he gets annoyed when his putting and chipping plays him up. There's no telling him though - need to use the same ball (or at least similar) to be more consistent.
AD333 at the moment as its a cheap decent ball which offers great all round benefits.
Z-Star's in summer due to the greens firmness and feel. I do though have a full box of new Pro v1's which I love but at £40 a dozen I think this will be the last dozen.
ProV for me lovely feel around the greens especially from the putter. Only down side is the way that the Vokey spin milled wedges eat the cover for breakfast, dinner & tea!!
Canny beat a pro v 1. i am intersted to see how the cally balls will peform in summer conditions as playing them just now is pointless because you don get proper feedback from them in winter conditions.
Pro v's for me but I also like the Callaways I was sent to test. To be honest I don't think there's a lot of difference between all the premium balls. It's just in the head and if you find one you have confidence in you tend to stick with it.
As long as they feel good off the face and have a fair bit of feel and spin around the greens I'm happy.
At the moment its a toss up between the TP red and the Z-STAR. I like both. I am interested in trying the new Penta ball and got on well with the softer Callaway ball. Thought it come off the putter well.
The Z-STAR may be dropped this year as I'm now using a putter which doesn't have a soft insert.
Penta and Callaway will more than likely find their way ino my ball pocket of my golf bag this year. Whats the softest B330? Might buy a 3 pack to try.
