Where would you mark yourself?

Driving - 7
Irons - 6
Short game - 5
Putting - 0.5

I usually hit long fairly accurate drives and hit alot of greens in regulation. I generally hit good chips but recently struggle with pitch shots and bunker play. After last year learning how to putt it seems to have escaped me and am putting like a &*^%$£"^**&^%$ !!!

My handicap 6.

(PS - sorry if there are more than 20 words of explanation, it's just that as an accountant I decided that the difference wasn't material and ignored it)

Driving 6/10
Irons 8/10
Short game 3/10
Putting 2/10

Haven't had enough time to practise the short game and putting over the winter so it has just completely gone to pot! And haven't got it back yet

Driving-5 long but wrong
Irons-8 GOOD
Short Game-7 Practice has helped… a lot!
Putting-4 Let's me down…

Handicap: 13.4

Just added up 16 replies and excluded Murphythe Mog as someone who shoots 81 and marks himself 1 and 1 for Driving and Irons must be joking!

The average was 5.6 Drive, 5.5 Iron 5.1 Short and 4.9 putting. Blade player with 8,6,7 and 8 was best and excluding Murp, Swinger 3, 4 , 4 , and 2 was worst.

Think it shows that we underestimate our own ability or are extremely modest and nobody thought they were a 9 in anything. Maybe too honest and I expect the Pro's at our local clubs would be rubbing their hands at our own thoughts!

Driving : 2 on a good day. Have managed to miss every single fairway more than once this year !
Irons : 7 only part of my game that is usually good.
Short game : overall 5, Chipping and bunker play 7 , but pitching from 30-70 yards 3 at best.
Putting : 2 on slow greens, 7 on fast greens. Like to die my putts into the hole, which doesn't work on slow or poor greens.

Driving - 8
Irons - 7
Short game - 2
Putting - 3

I think a blue whale would have a more sensitive touch than me at the moment.

Driving - 8.5
Irons - 6
short game - 7
lag putting - 9
shorter putting - 5

Driving is very strong part of my game but dont usually capitalise upon it even if I knock it close. If I miss greens then i'll chip it well but occasionally my short putts are very inconsistent. Long putting is very good with a lovely sense of feel for distance if I say so myself.

OK Out of 10 where would you mark yourself for :
Driving
Irons
Short game
Putting
10 being excellent and then in 20 words max explain why ?

Finally what is your handicap?

Driving 1/10
Irons 4/10
Short game 6/10
Putting 5/10

I can't drive a greasy stick up a dead dog's bum with any wood, I used my 5i yesterday for tee shots as it goes just as far but hits the fairway I'm playing on. Lots of practice on a Par 3 has really helped my short game.

Handicap is the usual 28, but that's only because it doesn't go any higher :o

I'm currently glued to Tiger's Rub of the Green blog, its very interesting for a newbie.

Driving - 3
Long but inaccurate. If I hit fairways I score well, if I dont, I dont. Use 3wood and utility whenever possible.

Irons - 7
I dont hit many great shots but dont hit many really bad ones either.

Short game - 9
My chipping, sand play etc saves me 4/5 shots over ppl I play with with similar handicaps.

Putting - 4
Improving. I know I can be a good putter, but its still a way off yet.

Driving 4/10
Neither straight nor long, very average
Irons 5/10
Decent ball striker but not very accurate
Short game 7/10
Very reliable and versatile but could improve proximity to the hole
Putting 9/10
rarely need more than 30 putts/round just need to fix the occasional pull

Driver = 4
Irons = 5
Short Game = 6
Putting = 7

Miss too many fairways, miss too many green from good positions, leave ball too far from pin when chipping but putting saves my skin!

Aiming to work on shortgame and further reducing / eliminating my slice to see my handicap tumble :-)

driver 2
irons 6
short game 5
putting 5

cant drive for toffee but do manage the odd decent one
irons are my strongest part although can be hit and miss at times, short game is not too shabby but bunker shots are my nemesis, putting isnt too bad but need to hole more 12-6ft

still early days for me in golf so am confident on improving all 4 to at least a 7 :)

Driving 1/10
Irons 7/10
Short game 6/10
Putting 8/10

Driving is awful, iron play is consistently solid. Short game is decent but I will continue to work hard to improve it. Putting is the best part of my game as I hole out well from 6 feet and in.

driving 7 usually very good
irons 8 Best part of my game solid
short game 4 to inconsistant, but getting better
Putting 6 usually good, still the odd 3 putt :(

Driving - 7 Reasonable length of tee but too inconsistent.

Irons - 8 Iron play normally good enough to limit the damage caused by above.

Short Game - 6 Dont get up and down enough as i would like but otherwise not bad.

Putting - 5 Worst part of my game.

Haha,

Named and shamed!!
I consider it more of an honorable mention as I include Murphs scores!! I haven't seen him play but heard a fair bit about it!

Strange thing is I wouldn't trust my swing in the hands of most (if any) pros. I am always interested in constructive critisim but never been one to commit to changing things over time.

Driving 4/10
Irons 5/10
Short game 3/10
Putting 4/10

My driving is actually on the up but I'm still prone to chuck a couple of card wrecker drives somewhere in the 18. My irons are pretty solid but too many unforced errors with the scoring ones (7-PW) mean I miss to many greens. I think my short game woes are well documented on here but the linear method is showing a sign of getting it back. At least I've stopped duffing/thinning EVERY shot. My putting use to be my strong suit but I've neglected a lot of work on it and I'm not holing enough 3-6 footers and my distance control is way out. I think that explains pretty much why the handicap is on the up

compared to where I want to realistically be by the end of this year,

Driver: 7/10
Irons: 3/10
Short Game: 7/10
Putting: 5/10

compared to a scratch golfer:

Driver: 4/10
Irons: 1/10
Short game: 4/10
Putting: 3/10

My driver and chipping are probably the strongest parts of my game (most of the time anyway. We all have off days!) My putting is streaky at best and my irons are shockingly bad.
