Firstly hello there!! Just joined having got caught the golfing bug again. Gave up my membership when i went to uni but caught the bug again so im back.

Rejoined my local club this year, 3 cards all in and a handicap of 13 hit my inbox today.

Ive never been strong with the driver but have the distance in my locker. Been working hard and feel like i have a good swing again and have noticed the consistency has improved. Should i be looking to upgrade the driver? Currently playing with a Callaway Octane Black Tour........help!!

Upgraded my bag recently with Razr Tour custom irons, 910FD 15 degree 3 wood, cleveland CG15 wedges and the trusty ping ally putter.

Got some american golf vouchers so thought about upgrading the driver!? What you reckon? What should i be looking at? Is adjustability all its cracked up to be?

Why would you want to upgrade from your current driver, it is bang up to date. You say you are quite a strong player so the Callaway should suit you quite well as it has a smaller head to work the ball a bit and a Project X shaft which gives a powerful flight.
Unless there is a particular reason that you don't like it I would stick with it

Or you could buy the Ping G20 with Tour version shaft !!

Ah, sucked in by the word Tour!

This ain't a Tour (version) shaft. Just slightly different attributes (eg. lower torgue) that may, or may not, be a better fit for you than the 'non-tour' one.

You need a new driver wwhen the insatiable urges to try them all out get too much to bear. To be honest though a 13 handicap on return is good enough and there seems precious wrong with what you're doing. I'd stick with what you have and tidy up the short game to save a few shots

Why spend it on a driver....I dropped my Ping i15 for what i now use............A Mizuno MX500 10.5........
Its a 7 year old driver.....
Last weekend i hit it off out Par 4 3rd 343 mtrs and i was left with a 40 mtr pitch to the green....Ok a slight helping breeze and hard fairways but i still got it out to about 300mtrs.....Not bad for old technology.....

New isnt always best.

Oh and Hello and Welcome.

Absolutely, the instant anyone outdrives you....you know it makes sense!

Alternatively you can take Drive4shows sensible advice - and put 2,412 golf salesmen, manufacturers and marketing people on the dole

Great way of thinking i like it!! Think ill get my hands on a few drivers and give them a bash at the range over the weekend. Thanks for everyones input!
