When did you last play 36 holes in a day?

I think 36 x holes on my home course, Crowborough Beacon, would kill me.

You woofter!!
I played in the Mary Rose Flagons with Bob Eagle a few years back, got taken to extra holes..we actually won it thanks to a birdie by moi ;) on cardiac hill (5th) and I then had to shake hands, run back to the clubhouse from there and play in a singles match straight afterwards! Luckily that one didn't go to extra holes.
;) ;)

Well done you................

Quite often most of our big comps are over 36 last time was last Sunday (10/5) carried for 36

I remember when I was a junior during summer holidays I used to play 72 most days my recored was 110 in a day

Buffer zone as in less than 2 over your h/cap means you don' get adjusted, so, as the whole point in entering was to get a h/cap reduction, it was a waste of a day. Didn't go up, didn't go down. Stayed on 11.4.

Since rectified by moving back to 11.5, 12, a proper handicap.

The funniest thing was in those days, trying to be like the pro's I would carry the largest golf bag I could find, I had an 11inch Maxfli pro bag and used to fill up the ball compartment to the top, it must have weighed a ton - could'nt do it now

Playing my first 36 hole comp this summer, can't wait. 12 hcp limit so I gotta make sure i'm fit as a fiddle for that. In friendlies I can do 36 no sweat, but I think competition golf will be very different.

do it quite regularly, always tend to tail off last few holes. not so much physically tired, but concentration goes. used to play 54 most days as a junior in the school holidays

I playing about 6/7 36 hole comps this year

One around crowborough beacon which is quite a tough walk and not the easiest golf course

To cope with the fatigue i make sure i eat lots of carbs the days leading up to the event and play no more than 9 holes and some chipping n putting the day b4

Also make sure i get up early the day b4 so means i can go to bed fairly early.

Also a nice light pencil bag is required

Some mates & myself regularly have a couple of days away where we play two rounds per day on a day ticket. Infact last year we did three seperate courses of two rounds over three days. I actually suggested playing somewhere on the way home, but wasn't taken up on the offer.

All said & done you do need to work yourself upto playing two rounds a day, building up your stamina, to be able to do it. Currently I'm out of shape & haven't played enough to just simply play two rounds in a day without thinking about it. Last year I'd regularly play two or more rounds, but not done any dual rounds since late last year in October.

During the 90's a group of us used to go to the East coast of Scotland, drive up on the Saturday and play 36 holes every day for 6 days....walking!! Jeez that was knackering, and I don't think I could play 18 holes a day for 6 days on the trot nowadays.
And despite the fact that we were playing so much golf in the week ahead, some of the lads still went out on the Saturday we arrived to have a knock around the local 9 hole course!
:D :D :D

Out club championship and our Masters (invite only to competition winners over the preceding 12 months) are both 36 hole events and I have to say I find if I'm in the hunt to play around my handicap, the concentration levels stay high and so I guess adrenalin kicks in and I'm not too bad. If I'm having a hack or the concentration has gone I'm usually done for by the 12th second time round and the last few become a chore and a slog

I've done it 5 or 6 times a year for as long as I can remember. Played 90 for charity 3 years ago (and lost 2&1). My group are planning an unofficial championship over the 45 holes at our home club in June, with a few shandies afterwards.

I played in our County Championship last Friday - 36 hole qualifying, qualified 9th then on to match play 2 rounds on Saturday , Won in the morning round :) but lost in the afternoon :( to the girl who won it eventually. All this in terrible weather conditions! Had yesterday off and just returned from a 3BBB Open which my team won.
Absolutely shattered- make a mental note- I must get fitter.
