Checked the forecast for this evening and it's sunny with very little wind which means I can go and play 9 holes on the way to the gym. 1st time in over 10 days since I swung a club. Probably more excited than I should be.

Nice one Jon, you clearly have some withdrawals going on there!!! I can relate to that though I think I must have hit 300 balls since monday afternoon(great things coming from me on the ball striking front).

Enjoy the 9.

Got a match tonight, so hopefully weather will hold. Tried to play 9 holes last night, but as soon as I got to the course the heavens opened. At least the bar was open.;)

:whoo:Managed a nice 1 up victory in the first round of the summer knockout (12 handicap and below) 1 down with three to play, but three pars to finish saw me win on the 18th. Good quality of golf as our better ball score was 2 over, playing off 9 and 11. Got beaten in the semi final last year, so hoping to go one better at least.

Had a productive day off today. Played nine holes and then been giving the short game some much needed attention. Bit breezy but warm sunshine and the course is pretty dry so all good. Hoping to get out and chip and putt tomorrow to, work on the swing Friday and then play in the club match vs Oxford City at home on Saturday. Luvly jubbly

Really nice evening on the course today, home from work at 6 and on the first tee by twenty past. Not warm but the sun was shining, the deer were out on the course and it was in really top condition. I was on my own and stuck behind a 3 ball that had no intention of playing me through but, you know what, I just did not care. I sat on the tee taking in the rare sunshine and the surroundings and really relaxed. Even better, the new swing changes are really settling in, loads more yards and a nice, consistant gentle fade. I would have shot under my handicap if it were not for some inconsistant putting (never can focus on putting when it is just me playing).

This is why I moved to a nearer course which has a set up that encourages a quick 9 holes and I hope that there will be plenty more of it.

Well, that was.....interesting

Snuck in and tee'd off on the 10th and there were a load of old duffers waiting to tee off on the 1st. Played two balls. Chunked my first two drives with my 3 wood which sent them about 190 yards. Didn't get much better on that hole.

Next hole was better as were the two following that, despite some average shots, managed to salvage pars and bogeys with my short game and putting. Then I get to the 14th, a fairly straight forward par 5. There's woods on the right if you push your drive, but enough room left...So I push my 1st tee shot into the woods...2nd tee shot is in ok shape down the right. Find my ball in the woods and drop it out and take a penalty stroke as it was unplayable. Duffed both of my next shots and to make matters worse, pushed my good drive into the trees on the right (from a lie with the ball ABOVE my feet!!) and lost that ball.

Long story short, I ended up with an 8 and a 7 which totally ruined my round, that hole is definitely my "bogey hole" on my new course. I just happened to look at my watch before I tee'd off on the hole and when I looked afterwards, it had taken me nearly half an hour to play the ONE hole! Thankfully I had the back 9 to myself so there was no one behind me.

Last 4 holes I played ok and sunk a 25 footer for birdie and parred with the other ball on the last. Some positives and some negatives. I put the negatives down to not playing for ten days and still having a bit of a sore back.

Course was in good condition even if it was a little soft still from all the rain. Greens were awesome though.

Here is a view from the 14th fairway, looking back down to the 13th green. It's tiring to get up there, but once you get there, the views are worth the effort!

I presume the old duffers were over 40 Jon ?;)

35 actually. Anyway, I'm not talking to you, your PM has just ruined my day! :(

Lloyd, just let me know mate. It's fifteen quid for members guests and is a decent test of golf (I lost 4 balls on the front 9 last Sunday. The rough can be a nightmare!)
