On the back of Gary's exceptional score, beating his course record..

What's the record at your course...in a Competitive round.
Ours is 63 (-7)
Shot by a 3 handicapper.

Ours is a very beatable 67 (-5) on all accounts.

One of the 1 handicappers was -6 thru 10 in the mid week club champs a few weeks ago and blew up. Today a 2 handicap was -5 stood on the 16th tee and blew up.

Expect it gets lowered sooner rather than later

Ours is 64, 6 Under, held jointly by 2 guys, 2nd guy equalled it in 1998.

I would be interested to know what people THINK their course record might change to if a PGA tour event was played there (Obviously does not apply to courses that actually host PGA events)Course record at one of my old clubs Craigmillar Park in Edinburgh was 63 for ages, just Googled and it seems someone scored 60, MINUS 10.Minus 7 as a course record really is not that spectacular for a course that holds a major amateur event each year, but thousands of top amateurs had to play the course before an impressive number was put up.

If the greens were rock hard in the height of summer then I struggle to see anyone going much lower than 64, if they were soft as they were today then would expect a 60 or 61 or even lower

Ours (women's) is a very beatable 67 (-2).

I've equalled it in a medal but preferred lies were in effect and I've shot 64 in practice. So hoping it'll all come together in a medal one day!

I try not to think about it. Was stood on the 16th tee 3 under in a medal this year and knew that I needed three pars for the record. Made two bogies to finish on 68 :(

If only to be in that position. I guess it's a lesson learned but must be hard to switch the brain off. I guess all the experience you've had this year (and last) can only stand you in good stead for another crack at it.

63 - mate of mine took my record of 65 off me in the Club Champs last month :(

I think its Shared with 64 gross. one was in the Scottish Am stroke play championship and the other was in the 4 day open , so would be off the very back tee's which is a par 72 SSS 74.

not many chances to get this record as members only get a couple of comps a year off the blue along with the county champs or an elite Am event

65 (-7) for amateurs set by a young German lad last year in the amateur event.

Pro record is Justin Leonard with 64 in Final Open qualifying in the 90's.

Not sure any of our members could get close to that tbh, only a few comps off the blues each year and we don't have too many scratch or better members
