What's the most 'fun' golf course you have ever played?

And home to my only ever albatros!16th, melted a drive taking out most of the corner, ran down slope leaving a soft 9 iron, a wee jab ran off down the hill, coming in from the right and dropping nicely in the cup. It's a hole I'll remember for all my days.

Used to love playing an 18 hole par3 course in Rosgeir, just outside Lifford in Donegal. Belonged to Shay Givens Dad -used to have a Newcastle united flag in his front garden, got the golf bug playing there, but believe its no longer in business.

Cruden Bay - I've been fortunate enough to have played most of the Open venues and had five rounds at the Old Course St.Andrews now, but Cruden is just in a different league.

Blind tee shots, holes through massive mounds, par threes round mini mountains, huge humps in the middle of fairways, Cruden has it all.

The morning I played it, the weather was ideal and the course was empty as I was out first. I was able to sit back on the 13th tee at the far end of the course and realise this is why I had driven 500 miles from Surrey to do it.

No course designer now could ever get away with even drawing up something like Cruden Bay. So we need to appreciate it and enjoy it whenever we can.

Honorable mentions - Turnberry on a deserted summer afternoon in 2007, any round at Pyrford (my home course) and just the sheer experience of the Old Course St.Andrews.

Golf de Champagne - near Reims in France.
If you ever visit this area, you really should pay it a visit. Completely deserted most of the time, cheap as chips and very unpretentious - great fun. Every hole has been carved out of a hilly landscape and there are surprises galore.

Agree with Monte Mayor - mad as a hatter but terrific fun.

Les Bordes too. Very tough but superb.
