£100 is where I really need to think about whether I am wasting my money, that will normally get you a day's golf with some grub thrown in at a host of good courses.

One off wallet busters for the Old Course or other "special" locations are still worth it. The big reservation I have when playing "famous" courses, and I know it's a bug bear of a few others, is being shoved way up front on the daily tees which are barely 6000yds

I take you've played there? what didn't you like about it?

The only thing I disliked was the price! You could play Tralee, Lahinch and Ballybunion for half the price and Rosses Point or Ballyliffin for even less.

I want to play old head of kinsale and would pay the £200ish fee though none of my mates would, so unless i play with a stranger it doesn't look like i'd get to play it.

Good news, the 2010 rate for 18 holes has been reduced from 295 euro to 200.......bargain

I would stretch to maybe £60 for a single round but would prefer that to be a 36 holer or all day fee
