Due to a combination of bad weather, holidays, bereavement ect. i've not been able to play any golf since well before xmas and only the odd few holes in the months before that . i can't even imagine what a golf shot looks like. So at a stone heavier im starting from the beginning hopefully! next week. so whats the longest you've been off the turf apart, from being injured , and how long did it take you to get back to your normal skill level .:(

Currently in my longest phase of inactivity. As you say combination of bad weather and timing along with moving clubs mean all I have done is hit a few balls on the beach. Should be quite easy to get back to the skill level of not very good :(

haven't played at my home club since our team match against another club where i scored 22 points last September as i swore to myself i will get better before looking like an idiot again. iv played 4 games with a mate on another course since then and all iv done since then is practice and im feeling like i should return now as i feel confidant that i can get single figures now.

we lost that match by 1 point and everyone else played reasonably well apart from me so it felt like i let the team down big time and im determined that that wont happen again.

about a 14 year gap is my longest break between games.

If I have a fortnight lay off then a range session gets me back in the groove with the long game but the short game and putting suffers more

Had a weather break of about 3 weeks a couple of years ago when it snowed and then froze and had a month off at my old club when it sank!

I played on November 11th last year and came back for the first round on Saturday. I shot 110 which is terrible really but I've changed a few things in my swing (with the advice of some on here!) so it was to be expected. So almost 2 month gap, but there were plenty of driving range sessions in there too!

Havent played since the week before Christmas due to my course being closed the whole time, thank god I'm moving to a club with better drainage at the end of January.

But been making up for that with range time to bed in new swing changes. But am itching to get on the course.

Probably around 12 years then a brief return and then another 16 years or so (after playing 1 hole badly and jacking). 3rd attempt and I can't imagine more than a week off which I did once just to take a step back, breathe and relax!

 ....you don't look old enough! :p:p:p

I put my clubs away for 7yrs from 2001 - 2008

Why thank you! If I had stuck with this wonderful yet hugely frustrating game I'd have aged way beyond my years (but according to my Dad might have been rich)!

3 months gap due to freezing snow it stayed cold for so long it just wouldn't melt, and when it finally did it snowed again, amazing

Nov 2010 - Jan 2011 - Walsall West Midlands

about 8 weeks for me. we had snow for 8 weeks might have beens about 2 years ago. also had a bad back in 2011 and had to rest for another 6 weeks then.
I only started playing 2006 so not that long.

8 years - took the game back up last year after watching the Open. Played my first round on December the 21st last year and considering I hadn't been on a course for 8 years, didn't fare too badly !
