Whats the best value all round golf ball

I normally use Srixon AD333 or Titleist NXT Tour balls. I don't have enough swing speed to make the best use of Pro V1/1x balls. I don't like Noodles or Wilson DX3 balls. If you want a real budget ball, Pinnacle Golds are pretty good - I have won several comps using them, including a 46 pointer. :)

Given your success with it, what's the benefit of the srixon or titleist over the pinnacle gold for you?

This winter Ive tended to use all my old Pro v's. Battered as they are I remember reading the article in GM by the maker who said that they were still fine to play with no matter how old and discoloured they look, unless they had hit a rock where the may be internally damaged they were still ok.

So now they don't get consigned to the practice bag so quickly!

I won't play with rock hard distance balls that you can't stop on the greens, or balls that spin too much and go sideways if you hook or slice them, e.g. Bridgestone B330 RX-S or Wilson DX3. Almost anything else will do. Golf balls are limited for distance anyway by the R&A and USGA testing procedures, so don't believe the advertising hype that Ball X is much longer than its competitors!

If anyone is going past Hayling there is a carrier bag of balls under a bush to the right of the 12th fairway. Well there was about six weeks ago when we had the mini meet. They have all been on fire, but some are probably still better than the cheapo models mentioned above.

Just watch out for the severed hand (Swinger knows what I'm on about).

It's a package deal but you'd be surprised at what some people will do for a freebie!

Hi delc; what would you recommend? This is exactly what I'm looking for.... The balls I have at the moment are srixon AD333 as had seen a few recommend on here but I think they feel like bricks, like you say very little control on greens and feels like putting a stone. Pro v1's I couldn't justify the price.

Was thinking of trying srixon soft feel next or DT solos?

I personally like AD333 balls, don't find them too hard (unlike the Srixon Distance ball), and don't find any difficulties stopping them on the green. Generally a good all-round ball.

If you want something a bit softer, try the Srixon Soft Feel, or the Wilson DX2/3.

I buy pearl grade pro v1 lake balls which are a fraction of the price of new and are still very good quality. If the pro v1 is your ball of choice, maybe give that a go.

Do we know how much golf balls deteriorate when lying on the bottom of a lake for several weeks or months? :mmm:

I've started using "Winter Balls" rather than premium ones that I find spin too much on the soft greens.
First up today was the Callaway Supersoft.
Shot 76
Good feel, distance and spin control around the greens. Soft off the putter too.
Just might use it again.

If the lake balls I have had in the past are anything to go by, not a lot. But the ones I have had were the highest grade ones so couldn't comment on any of the lesser grades.

I think the ball that ticks the most boxes for the most golfers is probably the AD333Tour.

Not much below a premium ball in terms of performance but £10 a doz cheaper.
