As per title of thread....

What's the best course you've played within an hour and a half of Edinburgh that doesn't cost more than around £60.

Looking for a day out and open to options.

Please don't include Craigielaw, Kingsbarns, North Berwick, Kilspindie or Carnoustie.

Cheers for any info.

What about Leven Links or Lundin Links on the Fife coast ?

Both good courses.

Always found Carnwath to be in good condition during the main part of the season.

For an inland option Lanark is supposed to be great.
Make that is great. Played there a few times, tough layout and well draining course.

There are too many good courses within 1.5hrs of Edinburgh. Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Fife & Borders. If you got your skates on you could even get to some of Ayrshire. You would be better picking an area then asking for courses there.

Not just saying this because its my course but Scotscraig is in good nick just now the greens are superb, and its an hour from Edinboro.

Another thumbs up for Lanark. One of the best inland courses I've played. Excellent greens and memorable holes with some great views. Good food in the clubhouse also.
Leven or Lundin also recommended if you're looking for classic links.

Not too sure about costs, but off the top of my head how about Elie, Crail, Ladybank, Letham Grange, Drumoig, Murrayshall, Blairgowrie, Auchterarder, Strathmore, Alyth, Glenisla, West Linton, Dalmahoy, Ratho Park etc...

I'd be heading for either Blairgowrie (Rosemount) or Scotscraig myself.
Or possibly Ladybank if it's not too far away.
Three great tracks and would be on my itinerary if I were heading that way
;)

I played at Gullane 1 on Wednesday and the amateur players in my group paid £41 each for a winter special, we played off the second from back tees. Fantastic golf course and in amazing condition. I would also strongly recommend Goswick at any time of year.

So many already mentioned..but don't think anyone has suggested Dunbar, which is excellent. If it were me I'd do Letham Grange on a sunny day. Super fun course.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Much appreciated. I'll narrow it down a bit from all the suggestions and ask the folk i'll be playing with.

Very interested in Letham Grange, Goswick, Scotscraig and the New at St Andrews. Had forgotten that course was quite affordable compared to it's big brother!

Well, we've decided that Crail is going to be our destination. Both courses over the day... looking forward to it already!

It was DCB's suggestion of the other fife courses that got me looking at Crail looks pretty spot on. Can actually remember looking at it when we played kingsbarns last year and thinking it might be worth a visit.

Was reading another golf mag the other night and it has a full feature on fife courses with Crail taking priority... meant to be me finks :)
