Are you interested in the 300 different events organised at your club... the evening 'themed' dinners, the live music, the Christmas party?

Or would you be happy if there was (for example) just changing rooms, a bar and a golf course?

We have very few social events linked with the golf club because the owner of our Bistro (which serves as our clubhouse) stands to make less money from them than when he has it open to the public. Think we have four social nights booked in this year. :s

Being a non drinker I'm yet to go to a 'evening doo'. I still go up for a drink but personally, for me, its all about the golf. If I have a good laugh while doing it well then even better

Very little "Club" at my place so it's basically a Course, a bar, a changing room and a shop for me.

While I would take the quality of the "Club" into account when choosing where to be a Member, the Course is the main consideration

We have some decent events including a trip to the Tower of London (we play the Yeoman Guard in an annual match) and a behind the scenes tour the public don't get plus some dinner in their mess room. I'll be going on that this year. I don't go to many as HID isn't too keen but the themed evenings, bingo etc all seem fully booked so its all good. Providing they are making money and not costing I don't care. It all helps at the end of the year

At the moment it is, just a golf course, but in the summer, I plan on sitting outside after a round with a cold cider enjoying the sunshine. I'm not much of an indoorsy person.

A good mix of both.

Get the blend right and you'll have people knocking your door to join. I enjoy both aspects of social and golf at my club.

It's all about the golf although I like that there are some events, even if I don't go to them.

Hats off to the committee members that like to get involved and organise things. Without them, most clubs would crumble. Crowborough has an active social side and once I become more involved with the club again I hope I will be able to attend a few, and support the club. I won't go to them all, some of them don't appeal to me. But the ones that do, I will make the effort. It's a great way to meet other members, and integrate into the club.

Ours is very well balanced, lots of outside people use our clubhouse for weddings etc but its never over booked so it doesnt get in the way with the members. Plenty of golf events too, only thing i hate is the large amount of 4bbb.

I will probably go to more social events in the future but being 20 I think it would probably be a bit boring as everyone else is over 40.

we have a great social scene at my club from race nights to concerts and a monthly star night as well as the fabulous carveries on a sunday,we also have a top chef who does gourmet evenings to me this is all part off being a member and is expected of a better club also it keeps hid quit when i'm away playing if she knows she doesn't have to cook on a Sunday and can put her dancing shoes on at least twice a month.
