What's in a name.

Without telling you my name I have spent my life correcting how people spell it because they use the mainly American spelling rather than the Scottish/English spelling.

I've spent my life telling people not to put an 'e' on the end of my surname.
I still get mail with my name spelt incorrectly.

If I had lived in Scotland, I would hardly ever had to correct anyone.

My surname is a very commonplace short word in the English language. There is no such word with an 'e' stuck on the end.
Very irritating all my life.

When I worked in Scotland, I was always correcting the spelling of both first and last names 😉
I often have to spell both when on the telephone - and my mrs has got used to having to spell out our surname 😀. I think it must be a bit too Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 for some 🤪. Just as well my dad didn't adopt the Gaelic spelling of our surname - that he used when younger and before he moved to Glasgow. There would be serious spelling trouble then.
