No one had approached him with it, none of the club officials were aware of the incident at that time.

So I spoke with the guy who runs the junior section on the phone and suggested he should speak to the lad and advise him to DQ himself.

What concerns me now is that I can just picture a 'Kevin the teenager' denying it all.

Oh dear!

I have just seen HDID and the score has been included in the results :( (not threatening the prizes fortunately).

Not good. I assume either no one had the conversation or he blatantly denied it. It really needs the marker to step forward as well now. The guy needs to learn or he'll think he can get away with it again and again until sooner or later he comes up with someone who'll simply refuse to sign the card or dob him straight to the comp sec. That'll be a lot more embarrassing than DQ'ing himself now

"Called round yesterday but they were out, so cards got dealt with this morning as handed in - will speak to him tomorrow at junior comp - he was nowhere near the leaders so no impact, just a learning for the future"

Pretty obvious that no further action will be advised by the junior convener, not a good precedent to be setting imo

I'm not sure the clubs hierarchy will take such a lenient view on whats pretty blatant cheating.

Bit disappointing that the junior convener isn't seeking to nip it in the bud as it were, I know at some clubs he'd be looking at a lengthy ban, even if it was a first time occurrence.

Just because he was down the field doesn't mean his blatant cheating should be ignored and therefore condoned

We had an 'alleged' cheat at my old club, this was before I joined, it stayed with him to the day he died some 30 years later. The lad needs to learn, it will be a hard lesson but he has to suffer the consequences of his actions.

100%......A year or so back I was watching a junior out of the club house window, he was playing a medal, hit through the green with his second shot, chipped up and two putted. I seen his score later on HDID and he had a 4 not a 5. I phoned his dad, who I knew, and he went back to DQ himself. Easy.

These things need to be nipped in the bud.
