What would you do?

Seems to fit the bill.

It seems that you can't go two minutes without making a snide comment on one of my posts.

The fact that you've been doing this for a while, makes it quite funny but hey....whatever keeps the ticker going.
...............

Mixed bag of reactions....in hindsight, I should have run to the pro shop (like a child) and complained about it.

I think you dealt with it correctly. If only maybe complaining in writing afterwards. Anyone hitting towrads a green with people on it are asking for trouble

The rule on our course is we tee off on the long par 3's when the group in front are on the green. 3 of them, 228 yards, 229 yards and 243 yards.

As far as i know, noone has got injured and this works well.

Well if you do that and by some strange coincidence your ball hits the green and I'm stood on it, you'll have a 5 min search for a ball that's in my pocket.

That is just ABSOLUTE MADNESS................!!!!
That surely CANT BE A RULE...........???

We have 1 longish par 3, rule is, guys on green mark ball, wave guys behind to tee off, then guys on green play out the hole, keeps pace of play going

That's mental. A lot of golfers will be hitting a driver on those holes, so the ball will be coming in on the full. I am amazed no one has been hurt.

Thats the most absurd thing ive ever read. You might as well put a crosshair on the head of the people on the green! :fore:

Why is everyone so quick to go on the offensive in these situations?

Have we all lost the ability to deal with this sort of incident like civilised adults?

Surely the rational thing to do is give the guy a chance to explain what happened. If it was accidental it should be quite apparent from his reaction. I can't see any point in his hitting a "hurry-up" shot on the 18th... the round is over. Therefore I'd be inclined to think it was error rather than intentional.

Still maybe you could all beat the truth out of him instead.

And if it was deliberate, are you really going to beat the guy up as some claim? Please. You could both then go and join another club together when you BOTH get kicked out of your club.

I'd rather be a lover than a fighter.

Totally agree.

All these posts about stealing the ball, whacking it in to the next parish or threatening to belt someone for having the temerity to hit the ball further than they intended are absolutely ridiculous and are not in keeping with the spirit of golf.

My advice to the OP would be to leave a club that is clearly a Mecca for golfing chavdom and join somewhere decent. It sounds awful and full of the type of people that drive white vans and play golf in cargo trousers.

That said, having read about the OP's incidents over recent months, perhaps you are at the right club already? Either way, if you have an interview at another club, I wouldn't recount any of your recent escapades as I am not sure they cast you in the most positive light!

Buried my putter in the middle of his forehead, simple. He obviously has no respect for other players, so why should you have any respect towards him.

Left the ball where it was. Waited for the owner to come and claim it. Then stepped up and had a chat about it and aired my opinion. If we disagreed then ensure there are no witnesses to see what would happen next.

Normally if i read posts like this I think, 'yeah mate, whatever....' but having seen The Captain at Woburn I kinda think he would.

I remember a few years back one of the clubs i played at with some members, if it happened they just put the ball on a really high driving tee to highlight the bad manners. It was frowned upon and if you had your ball teed up expect someone to have a word.

Playing dead on the green is clearly the best option imo :-). I would give him a chance to explain himself after he has got over the shock of me waking up alive.

I dont know the full details of the hole etc but the guy may of thought he wouldnt reach the green etc and somehow he did?

i think you should of just waited beside the green and asked why he felt the need to hit whilst you were putting, maybe marking his ball if you felt the need.

it seems you have a major problem at your club or you are in need of some new polos without a cross hair on your back as this sort of thing appears to be a regular occurence. If the committee managment arent doing anything about it its time to get the hell outta there!

A business idea springs to mind...

Club crest depicting: a bottle of fake tan surrounded by bull terriers rampant.

Back to the thread at hand. Would people PLEASE stop saying you'd chin them, hit them with a club, fire a ball back at the, etc etc. No you wouldn't.

I'm sorry. But I find all this, fighting talk a tad disconcerting. I play golf to get away from, this type of behavior. It just goes to show how standards, have dropped in every day life.
