Hi guys I have just started playing again after a 10 year lay off and I play of 25 at moment. My irons are Calloway 04 big Bertha 4 to w and I have a titleist 983 driver and Calloway 4h rescue and a lob wedge. I slice my driver and struggle with my irons. I want to see what's new and recommended to try. Thank you for any advice

Be prepared for the deluge of "see your local pro and get some lessons" responses. in all seriousness, this would be the route i would strongly suggest in your position. Similar to me a number of years ago, just bought some new clubs, then played a bit, then eventually got some lessons. best thing i ever did and will be much more tangible benefit to new clubs. if you slice your diver now, you will still slice a £300 new one...

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

My honest recommendation is get some lessons and keep your clubs for now. You have not missed any technological advance that will stop you slice your driver or help you hit your irons cleaner.

I know this is not what you asked. If you are dead set on spending some money I totally get it and can make some suggestions.

Edit: Lol Rooter.... you guessed it....

Hello and welcome,

Get a few months playing under your belt wait until autumn just as the new releases coms out and youll be able to pick up some good deals on new shineys.

Thats a great point if you want to buy new (but "last years" model) play for a few months, have a few lessons, then grab some late autumn bargains with the help of your teacher!

The above applies to Taylormade clubs

As an aside, I appreciate that a club is linked to the pro, but should that automatically mean you use them, just because you're a member?

Just because you really like a course/club, I don't think you should automatically have to use the pro, they might be rubbish!

We have two Pros at our club and I do not use them, I have an independent Pro who is better for me.

They do have a pro but hes only there on sat I live near direct golf and they do a free assessment I might try that in September
