What to buy in the states.

Under Armour is absolutely huge in the States now... you see almost as many people in UA as Nike... it will be massive over here soon as well. Flying under the radar a bit in the Uk so far but they make great gear, esp for cold weather.

I bought 3 UA polos last year and they are great, dead comfy and look the part. I also do a bit of running and their compression kit (cold and hot weather) is excellent.

As we are heading to Florida in Feb. I would be interested to hear how you arranged to play Sawgrass and how much it costs. We normally wait until a week before going to book our courses, sometimes only the day before playing as there are some great deals then. I'm sure some of our guys would jump at the chance to play Sawgrass.

Thanks for the info. Eight of us are going for 10 days, stay in a villa and travel about in a mini bus. Flying from Manchester with Virgin and all meals and green fees included costs us around £1,300. Some of us want to play Sawgrass, but it seems to be about £250 per round unless we can get a deal nearer the time.

sorry to be totally ignorant or naïve but if you get a iPad from the US would it work here???
Yup you can - it'll just come with an American plug. Everything else on the iPad itself will work fine as you'll log on using your UK iTunes account information.
One of these or one of these will do the trick depending on your preference :)

Customs always used to love looking at golf clubs so be wary of going over your limits otherwise the duty will make it more expensive than here.

I try to buy things you can't get over here.

When I went I tried to bring back some stuff that you cant get over here or stuggle to. I ended up buy some clothing mainly Golf related. Peter Millar and Straight Down were the 2 brands I stocked up on just take the tags off and you will be fine. Didn't find equipment that much cheaper to be honest but food and clothing was definitely cheaper mainly due to the exchange rate we got back then.

Those heady days of 2$ to the £.
We were like kids in a candy store.
Agree with a lot of you that the current exchange rate makes it not worth while re golf kit.
The AD333 balls in Walmart were exactly the same price as here (currency converted)
Just to emphasize again prices exclude sales tax. 8% in Florida I think.

Yes indeed. It was not quite that much when we went. I think we got $1.9to the pound. Peter Millar jumpers at $100 for £50 and Polo shirts at $50 for £25 brings back memories. Jugs of Coors at $4 making it work out at around 60p a pint was the best though:)
