what should i do?

The last conversation I had was ok actually.

Man came to fix the boiler. Wife mentions something about golf to me and he says "I play a bit too".

Me: Where do you play?
Him: I'm at so-and-so now, but last year I played on the Europro tour.

I can live with him asking my handicap now :D

Ask him if he made a cut though?

Sounds like a mental issue too. If you get tight and worried about the big course your swing automatically loses fluency and you will try and steer the ball.

Try reading Golf is not a game of Perfect by Bob Rotella.

Just go out, enjoy it and don't over think it. Another good tip if it's quiet play a game of matchplay with yourself, Titleist ball V's Srixon ball or whatever. Gives you focus and takes your mind off of the course.

then they always respond with 'WOW! you're really good then? '

what are you supposed to respond to that? i usually say 'i'm alright'

I would say, "yeah! I love the game, play a lot and get a lot out of it"

Which, apart from the being really good, is also how I answer now.
