Just lately my golf has gone downhill bigtime. Im currently playing off 16 and i know i can play better than that but just lately ive been struggling to play to my handicap.

My main problem is most of my shots go left (hook) sometimes way left sometimes slightly left but its having a huge impact on my game.

Its obvious my club face is closed at impact for this to happen but i just cant seem to fix it. It was my last comp of the season today and up next is winter league and i dont want to be playing this bad for that.

My aim for next season is to get cut to around 12-13

not had any lessons lately bob, i had one at beginning of season for the same problem and after the lesson i played alot better. Thats why i mentioned above about knowing what i need to do!!

I did find myself thinking today that my grip felt strong

It sounds like you know the root cause of your problem.

Here's one for you to consider next time you're on the range/practice ground. Basically if you know what a weak grip and a strong grip are then practice hitting big hooks and big slices. Once you understand how to do both you'll also understand how to counteract each.

And just occasionally you'll need one or the other to get it around a tree(?) for example.

yeah when i next go to the range im going to try out weak grip which should hopefully be the shot im after and then i will go to the strong grip and hopefully that will be the hook shot which i have at the minute

I wouldn't worry too much. The season is drawing to a close, so why not get a refresher lesson rather than trying to self cure and risk other faults creeping in or changing something that may not need fixing. After than practice, play winter golf and not worry too much about scores/ handicap and come out fresh next season

no i have slowed my swing right down..

i am worried about it because i dont want to be playing like this every time i go for a round

Maybe you have slowed down too much. I did that when I was working on my tempo a few winters back and using the tour tempo sounds. The pro wanted me to start on the very slowest beat but to be honest it was just too slow for my natural rhythmn and I hit it worse than ever. Once I speeded it up to the middle beat (24/8) I was swinging at a better sped and with more freedom
