What music do you listen to around the course?

I've usually got my ipod with me as I weave my merry way around the course. Don't use it in company as that would be rude but when I'm out on my own I like to listen to something. I often have Wishbone Ash or even some Bach on as it somehow feels conducive to wandering around large expanses of grassy areas and it keeps me chilled.

So what do you listen to as you meander your way around 9 or 18 holes?

I pick all the slow chilled tunes from my collection, so stuff from Bob Marley, Massive Attack, Leftfield, Cinematic Orchestra, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Underworld, Wickerman Soundtrack, John Martyn, DJ Shadow, certain Beethoven etc.

Still like dark and frenetic music like Rachmaninoff or King Crimson, but certainly not for the golf!

How loud do you have it? Would it cover up someone in the distance shouting fore?

Although I love music most of the time, for me, golf on my own is a peaceful, if frustrating endeavour. Nothing nicer than a quiet summer evening taking a few balls around a quiet, deserted course.

Saying this, I would love to stick on some heavy rock, and see what it does to my swing!

I've listened to Iron Maiden's Hallowed be Thy name whilst on the course, it had no negative impact. In fact I think the beat helped me with my rhythm.

I have tried the music thing whilst playing golf on my own and also fell walking on my own.. And it just doesnt suit...

Both ativities are much better for me with silence and/or the natural surrounding noise.....

Made me laugh a few weeks ago. I was on the 3rd and another chap was on the adjacent 7th. He was obviously listening to something (don't know what) and he was walking down the middle of the fairway towards his ball playing iron guitar. It's like air guitar but with a golf club and he was giving it beans. I thought to myself ... that bloke is chilled!

Don't listen to music on the course, but when I'm at the range I'll often take my iPod and bang out some decent Indie-ish tunes. A mate of mine listens to "Great Speeches" on his iPod.. Seems to give him a bit of a lift...

When playing and if playing alone I listen to absolutely nothing, even try blocking out my own thoughts. Its the perfect time to get some peace and quiet.

At the range to block out the others there and constant clang where someone has shanked one into the boards it'll be some form of Ministry of Sound chillout anthems. If I listen to anything with to many lyrics or to upbeat it just throws everything off as I tend to end up trying to swing to the tempo of the music and a fast swinger I am not!

Golf is one of the few times I get when I'm not actively listening to something. Working lots from home I've always got something on, nice to get away from that when I'm on the course. Plus trying to decide what to listen to would stress me out.

If I'm playing a solo round I have my phone in my pocket and text folk between shots (if I hit it far enough to be worth while obviously) but I'd never have my music on. Too dangerous.

If I'm by myself and the course is fairly quiet I put some tunes on out of the speaker on my phone, tried the earphones and near choked myself. Made the mistake of listening to my team on the radio one day, not good for concentration or temperament:whistle:
