What Is Your Wedge Bounce?

Do you carry all 4 wedges for each round?

Just curious as there must be a fair bit of overlap in what they do.
Or am I doing something wrong?

ignoring the benefits of bounce is a little silly. not knowing/understanding how it will affect a certain shot especially in conjunction to opening the blade leads to bladed shots across the green.

examples include - people with low bounce wedges sticking the leading edge into the soft ground all winter and wondering what it is they are doing wrong.

diggers with low bounce wedges through their set.

very little sand in bunkers and guys with high bounce wedges trying to open up the wedge to get it over the high lip. club bangs off the hard ground underneath and blades it.

guys in bunkers with lots of sand and very little bounce driving the leading edge into the sand and no exposing the little bounce they have. ball chunks about a foot.

I've been there and seen it happen time and time again! need I go on? ;)

Totally agree. Bounce isn't a gimic, it works and why not use it to your advantage?

I've played all my golf in Spain for the last there years. The variance in bunkers (and fairways) from course to course is massive. Then factor in that some on a course are exposed and baked hard in the Sun, others are not. The bounce difference really does allow you to play the best shot for the conditions.

If you don't want to buy into it then that's your call. However, I certainly wouldn't call anyone a manufacturers dream for doing so as say "do these tees have a doubly inverted G69 speed pocket with my pie fly technology or are they the standard version?".

I think it's fair to say knowing all of that wouldn't help me. 60% of the posts on here are far too technical. Which is never a good thing.

Fair enough. Does read a bit geeky. If the wedge works for you then use it.

so you have wedges for each type of course you play or do the same wedges work in all these 'massively' varying conditions?

he can carry and probably does have a varying range of bounce options to deal with the differing conditions.

Good answer FD.
Wedge play is a skill to be learnt in my opinion aound the chipping green.
Dewsweeper

I learnt how bounce affects wedge play by mucking around greens with various wedges with different amounts of bounce. I have tried them in different conditions. it has improved my skillset no end.

mcilroy quote with his new lob wedge with more bounce than he normally uses.

"I’ve always been someone with not a lot of bounce to my wedges but I think it’s helped my bunker play as well,"
