...that leaves you thinking you'll be on the tour within 18 months?

Had my second lesson in 3 years last night, and at the minute, i've got ambitions of breaking the course record in my next round!

I appreciate this won't happen, and that i'm more likely to have a mare. But the good thing is, no matter how badly I play with the advice given and minor changes made, I know I can't be as bad as recent weeks.

18 handicapper who was happy to get within 5 shots of said handicap. Turned to 19 handicapper looking for 14-15 by the winter.

Love this game!

That is indeed what keeps us hammering away at this wonderful, frustrating, magic, soul-destroying, masochistic pastime!

And it provides support or a huge number of talented, lazy, opportunistic, marketeering, hard-working folk along the way!

Amazing how a lesson can whet the appetite and increase confidence in a short space of time, hope it works well and your soon saying hello cat 2.

Tell me about it, one brief chipping lesson with Jonathan Yarwood whilst at the Belfry and I think I'm Luke Donald.

Yet, its driving the ball into the rough which is the problem at the minute. Quick fix, drop the driver and 3 wood

Thanks, me too! I'd go mental, got to be said!

It's the reassurance that i'm not too far away from decent results. He didn't need to change much, for me to see an ace result.
I hit four or five solid 5 irons, bang on my target with a hint of draw - absolutely unheard of with my 5 iron! Previous efforts were low hooks, high slices - but a couple of tweaks, and I was getting it right out there.

Driver too, i usually spray that about all over the place. Couple of tweaks, and I was finding the sweet spot (more often than I was toeing one over the side fence) - I had always wondered what it felt like!

Key now is to practise what i've been taught, and stick with it on the course. Can't wait for my next round. Just when I thought i was losing all enthusiasm for the sport, i've been given the bug back!

This sounds very similar to myself just now.

Had a shortgame lesson, where te pro made a slight adjustment to my chipping style that has had a dramatic effect.

I, like you struggle with the longer woods, but they are staying firmly in the bag. I had a bit of a sequencing issue at the start of my down swing. My pro put me right and I'm, currently working to impliment his changes.

Those same sequencing changes have me flushing my irons and wedges, so I know I'm on the right track, just a case of practice and grooving the changes.

Yours and Kev's posts are cracking - everything I love about how we discuss golf here. We've all got undoubted passion for playing the sport, at some point we'll be rewarded by those with higher powers and we'll have the rounds of our lives.

Fabulous - me too. Last lesson hitting the ball cleanly, crisply, further etc. Went to the range to practice the drills, awful. That's why it's called practice I suppose. Last round was 4 3/4 hrs following a very slow society, frustrating. So why do I still want to get out and hit more balls? It suddenly feels like a long way to my Seniors tour debut on my 50th birthday, whilst during my last lesson I thought it inevitable!

you've hit a fairway before on a par 4 and 5 haven't you?

You've hit greens in regulation before haven't you?

You've had a birdie before haven't you?

The key is doing it consistently and for 18 holes.............simple really:whistle:

Golf is a constant challenge no matter what level you are at, the pinnacle of golf has never and will never be reached - unlike Darts, Snooker, tennis, footy etc etc
