Hi.

Im after a set of irons which would be useful to a beginner.

Ive searched through ebay alot, but im not sure which irons to actually look for.

I dont really wanna spend much more than £100, simply becuase im not a good player. So i dont fancy throwing alot of money away at the minute.

Any reccomendations would be helpful please.

Also ill be thinking about getting lessons just incase anyone suggests i get lessons instead :D

From my experience all the budget irons are much of a muchness! you should pop in your local american golf and see if they have any used clubs you may pay a little more than a ton but you will get a better iron!

For around £100 I think you could do a lot worse than perhaps a set of Nike Slingshots, or maybe some MD Superstrong irons? I'd recommend regular shafts if your just starting out too. Check the for sale/wanted threads, usually some interesting stuff in there.

By regular do you mean just metal? Sorry for the silly question but I don't know a great deal about golf equipment

No worries mate, shafts come in different flexes, usually regular or stiff. The faster the swing speed the stiffer the shaft so as a beginner (and I could be wrong without seeing your swing) you'd probably be better with regular shaft irons. They can be made from steel or graphite. Graphite predominantly used in ladies clubs or sometimes more so for seniors clubs. As a middle of the road beginner set, regular flex steel shafts should do the trick!

Regular shafts refer to the flex. Don't do what I done and got for a super budget shiney set from a sports chain.

Have a look around for some callaway x's or Wilson staff Di9's. I've seen a few sets go for around the £100 mark and you can't go wrong with a top manufacturer
