I really need to improve my iron play - 6i and longer playing in from 160yds plus. It is with these clubs that my s***king comes to the fore as I try and push things too hard due to my general struggle with them. When I rack up a double or worse it is almost always due to a dire shot in from the 160yds plus range.

+1 :mmm:

Quite happy with everything other than irons at the moment.

21 points and 10 blobs in the stable ford last night, including 5 straight blobs to start the round, all due to a return of the unmentionables which haven't been seen for a few months

Practice session tomorrow to try to iron them out before the meal on saturday, really hoping it was just a blip.....

Fitness. I'm hitting the ball straighter than I have for years but I'm struggling to even swing a club over the last 6 holes.

Prob still Driving, sometimes its good sometimes bad. if i could drive as well as i hit my irons and putt, i would maybe get down to 2 or lower

i voted other as its my fitness that is holding me back at the moment ,i can hit the ball well at the range ,but then we can all do that. its just the walking that is holding me back . even usung a buggy im finding that i am very tired after playing 18 holes.

Had a lesson yesterday and went back to the guy that had got me from 14-11 and we made a massive couple of changes. Finally trying to get rid of the cupped wrist which after 35 years is going to be hard but the numbers on GC2 were brilliant when I got it right. Sadly the driver is now unlikely to keep the ball in the same county but one step at a time. Add in a change to set up to allow more room and it's going to take time. Still a 30 minute lesson lasted 55 minutes and plenty to work on. These will make significant changes at some point (way to soon to suggest it'll work on the course immediately) and then it's my pitching and chipping. Suddenly feeling very energised about my golf once I can these changes to work.

Putting. Putting and putting.

The rest of the game is ok (for me). If I can string 2 or 3 rounds together with my usual game then I'd like to think a half decent afternoon of putting will see the handicap drop.

Approach play for me, my mid irons have progressively gotten worse in the last 12 months. So I'm looking forward to giving a new set of irons a bit of exercise this year. New shinies fixes everything right?

Ditto, my iron play has gone from semi acceptable to woeful. At least my chipping gets lots of practice.

Just the accuracy of my driving, if I wasn't having to chip out from just off the fairway or being blocked out for being on the wrong side of the fairway, I reckon I'd take at least 6-8 shots off my total very easily.

For me to get much lower I just need to get more consistent across the board really, although I never practice......

In particular off the tee and on the greens, too many bad tee shots still.

Probably won't start practising though

Stop being a nervy git who quits on everything. Easy.

No, it isnt. I can smash it into a net, but out on the course, no. Nervy git takes over.

Yup = +1 :(

I put Pitching, Chipping, 125yds or less in the pole, but come to think of it my putting is probably worse than my chipping. Maybe improving on the both of them I'll bring that h/c down.
