• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

What events are you going to in 2012?

I've never actually been to a tournament myself but my dad has been to a few. Might try and go to the practice day and the first round but not sure when my uni exams are so might have to go on the weekend. Does anyone know when the BWM PGA at Wentworth is on next year I can't find any dates.

Went round with one of the groups in the european tour qualifying school last year. Literally just walked round with the guys and all for free !!
Definately do it again next year

May well do a day at the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, had a really good day there this year...before it rained! May depend on what level of field they can attract, hoping more of the Americans come next year now the word is out, can only remember seeing big Phil, Snedecker and Kuchar. With Barclays dropping it I doubt we'll see Phil there again however.
The course is great for viewing with loads of high ground and banks and several tees/greens in very close proximity. You can get right next to the players on course and on the practice ground, traffic control was good with little queueing. Corporate village was wel set out and not mobbed, atmos was great and the views are to die for.

Will prob go to the Scottish Open this year, Had freebe's last year and didn't get around to going, too busy playing golf 5 miles down the road where it wasn't raining.

We have the Curtis Cup in 2012 so will prob be doing someting at that, though apparently all the pretty ones have caddies already :(

Will be doing a couple of days at the open with the kids seeing as it's just round the corner. Might head down to wentworth as well.

Wont be doing the Open for many a year - had a stinker last year. 5 + 1/2 hours door to door cause of the Park & Ride and busses trying to get through Sandwich!

Will do the US Open qualifer at Walton however. £5 to park otherwise free. No ropes so go and stand where you like (within reason of course). Walked around with David Howell and Lafeiberr last year in the afternoon. I was foaming at the mouth at the quality of golf! Both got in.

As for forum meets and amateur opens, its a case of money (rather the lack of it) at the moment

I went to the 97 Open at Troon and followed Tiger in the final round so you can imagine it was just ridiculously busy. In contrast went to the final round of the Scottish Open this year and the crowds were only 1 or 2 deep so you could see a lot better. Final round at the Open is great for atmosphere and everything but you really don't get to see much actual golf.

probably just be The Open for me... living in the North West I will definately go during the week (probably Wednesday) and maybe Friday...
Other than that, who knows!
