Hi all
Just a quick query,
What do people think of Yonex clubs, I use their c280fl driver and their cyberstar fx 3 hybrid and think they are the bees knees ))
The only reason I ask is I've yet to come across anyone who uses Yonex and I think they are soooo :) under rated, I few people at our club have said they wouldn't even entertain Yonex and I'm wondering why (I did ask and was told just because!!!)
I use Callaway X-18 irons and love them also, I have tried Yonex irons and really liked them but the Callaway's did work slightly better for me hence why I bought them.

Opinions please
Barb

Have liked the look of their kit but have nowhere near me that actually stocks it. My pro doesn't, my nearest AG doesn't so have had no opportunity to give it a go

Yonex isn't the easiest of equipment to find. Not a lot of people stock it, there aren't enough big-names plugging it and because of this people will be less liekly to purchase.

Hit a nanospeed driver and it was decent enough.

There are other brands like Kasco, Adams Golf & Bridgestone who suffer the same effect over here.

My wifes Aunt and Uncle use Yonex. They are opinionated idiots with more money than sense, so this has clouded my judgement on the brand.
A friend of mine has a Yonex driver and hits it miles, so their kit is probably ok, but I still like Titleist for this sort of money.

Tried a Yonex driver, forget the name, at the Colin Montgomerie golf school, which is not far down the road from me. I did not think it was anything special, was not bad just a bit forgetable. I am in love with my Cobra on so perhaps I am a bit biased.

BTW; It was a corperate event at the golf school, nothing special.

Not a fan. Tried some irons when they first came onto the market in the mid 90's and wasn't that impressed. That has clouded my view and I've not had any inclination to try any since.

They obviously don't produce bad stuff but I can't find any to try (none around when I was looking at new irons) and there doesn't seem to be any great raft of support for them. I don't know anyone who uses them

Hi Barb.

Amongst my gear i currently use a Yonex Cyberstar XC+ Utility. Absolutely brilliant club. Tried - owned a Benross and Cobra Baffler resuce before this and they were nowhere near as good as the Yonex. I would definetly give their other gear a go if, as and when I go to change anything. Some of the issues are related to resale values. Unless it's PING, CALLAWAY, TM, TITLEIST, MIZUNO etc the 2nd hand values plummet.

John.

The fact is that they are not as extensively marketed in Europe as in the US or Japan.

Over the piece I have had some of their kit and it was always top quality. Even now I would consider some of the irons, and they have known all about graphite shafts for longer than anyone.

To sum up,good choice.

I've used cyberstar c280 irons for 18 months now, got them from AG , tried 5 different makes at the time and bought these because they felt good/ impact marks were all on the sweet spot/feedback from the computer was good. With hindsight i now realise it was a fairly pathetic fitting ,but i really like the clubs and have no plans to change , although i might start looking at getting some wedges and would probably get another make

Good to see you back after your previous hornet's nest....

I bought a set of Yonex ADX100 irons graphite shaft (2nd hand) about 12 years ago. Loved them. Only changed them for Callaway X14 4 years ago because the shafts of the wedges and short irons were being worn away from rubbing on the bag and the cost of Yonex replacement shafts was prohibitive.

Never 100% happy with the X14's so when I saw a set of C280 with Uniflex steel shaft at a very affordable price I went for them. It took a while to get used to the steel shafts but I am hitting them well (OK most of the time). The only down side is that I have lost a bit of distance. I get a very high ball flight with these and I think that possibly the shafts are maybe a bit to soft for my swing - apparently I have quite good clubhead speed for an oldie. My X14's were firm shaft.

One of my regular golf partners has had a set of V Mass irons for a few years now. They were expensive but what amazing irons for ball flight and distance. When he connects he is possibly two clubs longer than me (and even older!)
