What do you love about golf?

the constancy of hitting a beautiful drive followed by a duffed second,
watching that one perfect shot hit the fairway only to disappear forever behind a blade of grass,
knowing that whenever you play your medal the greenskeepers will be cutting or tining the greens as you go and the wrong way round the course so you are always being held up.
reaching the green in two and putting in three, and the only time you sink the long putt it's all wasted because you took so many to get there.
the perfect shot is always three off the tee
hearing yourself say for the umpteenth time that round ' I know I can hit that shot, I've just (expletive) done it, so why can't I do it now!'

Mid handicappers rule, we can be as big a bandit as you like and also whinge with the best of them.

I love it when playing with a single figure player who has to moan when he creams a shot I would sell my wife for.

i love smacking the ball so hard off the first tee that it goes..... all of 20ft!

I also love getting on the green in regulation, then 3 or 4 putting!

Most of all though, I love when i hit what feels like the perfect, fairway splitting, tee shot only to walk up to the fairway and follow it up with a hook or a slice that ends up 20 or 30ft left or right of the green!

I love.....splitting the fairway with a 300yd drive, eyeing up the 80yd wedge shot into the green, staring the pin down, settling over the ball then catching it thin, watching it airmail the green coming to rest in the bushes behind the green in an unplayable lie!!!

I love losing a proV and finding a topflite.

I love getting wet for the first 6 holes, drying out, and then just as you think you will be putting some dry kit into the car, it pours going down the 18th.

I love waiting on every shot.

I love winter rules when I haven't hit a fairway in months.

I love the pro asking if I want to put into the two sweep, when I haven't had one in a comp for 3 years.

I love playing with a tatty ball for weeks, and then subbing it for a new one which lasts precisely one shot.

I love doing 2 practice pitch swings that shave the grass with a beautiful sound, then on the actual swing digging a hole so deep with the club one more swing could get you to china.
I love trying to clean a sand wedge with a towel, but succeed in nothing but spreading sand everywhere (hands, towels/trousers) and pushing the sand even further into the grooves.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

I play off scratch and can hit a 7 iron 185 yards without a ball in front of me

I love standing on the first tee of a prestige course, hitting a glorious drive to around 80 yards from the tee, then while waiting to play being passed by another drive (cheers matt).

I love phoning up my pro shop to ask whether trollies are allowed and being told that they weren't as it's too wet. I love taking my trolley out of the boot and putting my carry bag in. I love getting to the club and seeing trollies being used by just about everyone. I love paying £3 to hire a trolley. I love watching my bag fall off said trolley on pretty much every hole as the bloody thing had no straps and wasn't designed to hold my bag!!!

I love it, just love it!!! :D

I love warming up by hitting every drive over the centre of the range markers and then cut my first tee shot 80 yds right.

I love playing with coffin dodgers that moan about bobbly greens and then proceed to pepper the flag and NOT repair their pitch marks.

I love watching the "model" golfer take a divot the size of paul daniels toupe and not replace it "cos that's the greeno's job

I love waiting on a tee for 10 minutes while the ladies in front wait for the fairway to clear 300yds ahead, play their shots about 100yds ... THEN decide to all use the toilet that is adjacent to their tee

But most of all I love all us whinging gits that moan about the game but still carry on playing............. PRICELESS!

I love phoning to book a time for around 7,only to be told all they have available is 6.57

I love the fact i play like Tiger in a bounce game, and a novice in a medal.

I love the fact i can always find the worst lie in any bunker.

I love the fact my home course puts down tee mats in the winter BEHIND the whites.

I love standing on the first tee at Sundridge Park Golf Club with about 30 members behind waiting their turn and watching us tee off, seeing my 3 playing partners hammer drives about 260 down the middle of the fairway, stepping up to my ball and taking two or three perfect practice swings and then nobbing the ball about 30 yards into the semi rough in front of the tee.
(What the 30 members watching didn't see was me hit a glorious 5 wood out of said rough, oink a wedge onto the front of the green and can a 40' putt for par and 3 points...thank you) ;) ;) ;)

I love the plugged lie in wet sand or a bunker full of water with the only option to drop inside the hazard puts you right up against the back lip. I love freezing my way round a four hour round and the coffee machine packing up before you can use it.

I love it when they don't move the flags for 3 or 4 days and the holes get crowned - no greater feeling than hitting a beautiful dead weight putt and watching it tail off at the end by 4 inches :D

I love risk reward holes that come without the reward.

I love courses that pamper to the needs of it's 150 senior members but don't give a squatt about the course.

I love having a golfbag that doesn't keep my clubs dry and when it's pouring down with rain but too windy to hold a frikkin' umbrella!

I love it when you go to great lengths to lay some nice dry astro-turf tees about 10 feet square and all the seniors prefer to stand outside them in the mud.
