What did you do and how did you fare this w'end....

Peebles on Saturday for a mixed medal, played ok tee-to-green but was a complete failure on the greens. Just couldn't get the pace of them, and it was little wonder that I three-putted just about every green, thanks to leaving first putts either 6 feet short or 6 feet long. Nett 75 in the end, thanks to that so 0.1 raise.

Ayr Belleisle on Sunday for a bounce on Golf Show freebies. The sun had brought out a lot of folk, and the course was choc-a-blok. Played better, putting was slightly improved, and enjoyed the layout even though greens/teeing areas are scarily close together.

Didn't however enjoy almost getting brained on the 3rd green by a player on the 2nd hole, who hooked his approach into the trees beside me and the ricochet missed me by a matter of a few feet.. not even a cry of 'fore' to be heard. And not once, but twice, did a player on another hole wander into our fairway and play my ball instead of their own...

A good day out though, ending with a wee ice cream by the beach and the flattest pint of lager I've had the (mis)pleasure of drinking in some dingy Ayr bar.

Played 2 society outings this weekend thought i did ok ..

Saturday I was on a strange course (guest in a society) , despite scratching the 1st i got home with 36 points . with a bit more local knowledge i would have left the driver in the bag on a few holes , would have saved me a few penalty drops .. happy enough as we were off the whites aswell ..

Sunday i played a course i haven't played in years , my putting went missing for the day unfortunately , had a Lee day , tee to green was immaculate , putting was horrific made 2 birdies out of about 11 attempts, careless double bogey on 17 saw me scratch it to finish 4 over and 34 pts of my society handicap of 2 . would have been 40 off my club handicap

Saturday was the first time that I've swung a club in 4 or 5 weeks. Just had a bit of a practice, didn't keep a score, hit some silly shots, hit some great shots, walked off with a smile on my face :)

Well done good shooting, can you do it in a medal.

Not played a competition for a few weeks but might try and squeeze a suplimentry in tomorrow afternoon weather dependant.

Thanks, I'm not sure to be honest, I have not made it a priority this year as my brother in law is back in England for just a year so if and when he's about we like to play together. I shall keep my handicap active but am having so much fun with my golf I don't want to look beyond that for the moment.

Round 2 of the comp today and I can't work out whether to be frustrated or pleased. Today's effort was an 8 over par 78, one better than Saturday. I managed not to treble the first today making an impressive double instead and turned in +5. Played the back nine in +3 with back to back doubles on 12 and 13.

For the life of me I can't work out how I can play so well and not get cut thanks to these sloppy doubles and trebles. It's all getting rather silly now

As posted in the Handicap Challenge thread, I had a 2 under handicap 80 for net 70, which means that if CSS stays at 72 I'll be off 9.6 and within touching distance of my single figures target. :)

In-laws came and rescued me from a day in with the baby whilst HID went and earned some coin. No sooner had they turned the corner of the street I was gone :D.

Went out on my own (with no sun cream on) and shot, again, an 86, +17 gross playing off an unofficial h'cap of 21, based on a previous thread. Course has an SSS of 66. Equalled 39 points but whilst happy I'm shooting consistently I'm now bugged by the inconsistencies also being consistent! Was +4 after 8 (3 pars and a birdie) and then get to the 9th and 10th which are back to back par 5’s. I did them in 15 and they should both be pars really, bogeys at worst. Only hit 2 pars after that.

On the plus side wore my pair of Strombergs for the first time today and boy are they comfortable, my head might have been dripping with sweat but my legs felt dry as a bone, lovely pants. Oh, and I've got a lovely tan, too.

Boring buffer zone for me yet again today! 18 points after 9 holes with a couple of missed opportunities but generally pretty solid but then 2 doubles and a treble and not enough pars on the back. Did birdie our tricky last for the first time in a comp though to end the round with a smile of sorts:)

Great weekend for me. 37 points round Stapleford Park on Friday, good friendly knock on Saturday then 42 points at Presidents Day better ball comp on Sunday and my personal score would have been 41 points. Only down side was having to turn down a round at my old club today on threat of divorce.

Just back from St annes old links after a gross 84 nett 72 in the kilgrimol trophy. Tough out there today, very hot and fast. Might get a little cut if im lucky.

Good shooting that! Gross 85 nett 74 with 4 doubles so come away really disappointed as the conditions were perfect for a good score,As for the course I loved it, best greens I have putted on this year fast and true.

Cheers bud. Was easy to run up the doubles with the rough and bunkers wasnt it!

Greens were superb and best i can ever remember playing on.

Yet another weekend of hitting the ball well but not scoring as i should when it matters!

Saturday stableford, 35 points, made impressive as i scored 1 point on the first 4 holes! Played the back 9 3 overs par which gave me hope!

Made the use of the bank holiday with 2 bounce games today, gross 86 (net 69) at my own course in the morning then a gross 84 this afternoon at a local council course just for a change of scenery.

There are some very low rounds in me just waiting to get out!

43pts in Saturday's 4BBB, then a 4&2 win in yesterdays Matchplay quarter final! A good golfing weekend and my best putting performance this year.
