I see a couple of people have posted how they got on at the weekend so thought I would share mine.
Just joined a new club which although the course is a lot longer than my previous one, it is a bit more forgiving - good when my driving can be a little wayward at times. Have been stuck on a handicap of 25 for quite some time. Anyway, yesterday was only my 4th round there and as the first three times I had played to or under my handicap I decided to put in a supplementary score to see if I could get cut. Some pressure then with a card in hand and not quite the usual story an awful round.
Managed to play the first 12 holes in 6 over and picked up 36 points. Dont think I have ever played better. No luck involved in the score - just struck the ball well and made back to back birdies for the first ever time I think. Not sure if I got ahead of myself or was just a bit tired but my concentration went and ended up playing the last 6 in 12 over for only 7 points (including 4 points for a par on one hole I got 2 shots on). Normally I would be happy with any round with 43 points, breaking 90 and hopefully a cut of 3 shots, but feel a little disappointed at letting things go so badly over the closing stretch.
At least I should be cut though and I should take a lot of encouragement that I drove the ball really well for the first 12 and my irons went well, along with 32 putts and only 1 shot dropped in total from the 4 bunkers I managed to find. Lessons finally seem to have sunk in. Roll on next week to try and beat it!!!!
