Put in a supplementary card last week that would have put me down from 22.5 to 20.9, I had put in another a week earlier that took me from 22.9 to 22.5.

Been checking HDID for that last few days waiting for it to show, needless to say, it didnt.

So before the Midweek Stableford Rollup today I checked what the situation was and was told that the system wont allow more than 1 supplementary card in a week, so they couldnt put it in. and now its too far after the event, so the card counts for nothing and im back at 22.5

What Can You Do?

Anyway went out with Imurg and I had a belter of a front 9, 21 points including 1 blob, the weather was mostly dry with the odd heavy shower. and it was going very well

Then the heavens opened and wrapped up like a michelin man began making some costly errors, managed to get back on track on the latter holes to end up with 34 points and unless CSS goes mental ill be in the buffer zone. Just gutted to have been within touching distance of a really good round that would have effected my handicap.

Phil - know how it feels.

Especially when you feel your in a purple patch. You want to make hay while the sun is shining.

This happened me last summer, I was in great form but there was no comps for 3 weeks so I enquired about how to submit the supplementary cards. Got different answers from different people. Got my head down and put 3 cards in - 79, 83 and 87 which off a 21 handicap should have seen a nice cut. Enquired a few weeks later and got told they would only be used if I didn't play enough comps.

Stay patient, looks like some feedback is filtering through with the additional fixtures in the diary so hopefully you'll get lots of opportunities.

by stay patient - I really mean dont do what I did :)

When I didn't get the cut I expected I felt like all the remaining comps I had to shoot low 80's to get my real handicap instead of chipping away at it each time.

Had the same at the end of the season, hit form after the cut off for supp cards and comps finished! Then lost my game over the winter, still just starting to show signs of recovery!

You could practice playing with layers on to help it when you have too. Either that or invest in base layers and other wet weather gear that doesnt impede a golf swing.

I don't know why particularly but I hate playing in waterproofs - it just doesn't feel right.

Polo, thin fleece and Waterproof jacket on top - just not a good feeling.

i dont get the rush to hand in supplementary cards. why not just hold out till your in a comp and try and scoop a wee prize as you get that much sought after cut! if your paying for comps you may as well be in with a chance of getting a prize. no point getting cut then being unable to get on the podium.

To many, the handicap is the ultimate prize..............I would swap every prize I've ever won for a 5 handicap....

the way i see it is - if your going to get cut, your going to get cut. be it this competition or the next one. a wee prize is nice on the way down! you dont really fluke too many cuts, you earn it!

isnt this tantamount to one of golfs pet hates banditry?

i had read that you are only allowed 1 supplementary card a week, unlucky fragger unfortunately it seems youll just have to go beat the bro ans shoot the same again this week!

I have 2 reasons to try and reduce my handicap

1 is personal pride combined with the fact that my game has improved dramatically over the winter
But that isn't reflected in my comp scores

2, I'd like to shove it down the throat of a certain rotund golfer who frequents these esteemed pages :) :)

Yesterday it felt like the golfing gods were having a laugh at my expense

Might have to sacrifice Imurg to them
Lol

Rick at your handicap your very close which makes me think it's just a mental/confidence thing, have you analysed where your leaking the majority of shots?

Personally, I’m only interested in reducing my handicap in a competition.

Getting cut in a medal means more to me that shooting a good bounce game score. If I could not play in 3 medals a year I would then maybe put in supplementary cards.

I shot a 69 gross last week; it means nothing to me unless it was done in a competition..
