What can I do?

Night everyone!
I played in my club's week-end comp and shot 35 points stb but there was a CSA of +1 making it 36 points. Pretty happy with that since I had to play the front nine with rain.

Now on a certain par 3 hole, I find my ball plugged on the grassy edge of this bunker. You can see that the top of the bunker is a bit dodgy so they now marked it as ground under repair. So my ball is completely plugged in the edge and I realise it's unplayable. The clubs captain was close to us and came and told me that I should drop with a penalty out of the bunker. So I do that and get up and down for 4.

Yesterday, I return to my club and the vice-captain tells me that given the fact one of my feet would have been in the GUR I could have gotten a free drop! Making 3 on that hole instead of 4!

Now what that means is I would have been cut by 0,2 and get closer to my goal (9 hcp)! What can I do? Is there any rule that let's the hcp commitee change the result?

Thanks in advance

I'm afraid not. Even though you were given what seems to have been wrong advice, you take responsibility thereafter and the score was the score you made. You signed for that score and the results were, I assume, published - no going back from there.

As said on another post today, don't listen to the Captain - Captains probably know less about the rules than you do.

Even if you had known and taken a free drop, you cannot guarantee that you would have taken 3 not 4.

If we were all able to change what we did retrospectively, we'd all play off lower hcps!

Our current captain is no more familiar with the rules as any other member and is certainly not a person who I would go to for a decision on the rules. A nice guy, yes, a fountain of golfing knowledge he most certainly is not and he is also one of the slowest players in the club!

This... you might have thinned the next shot across the green and ended up with a lucky 5, or worse.

I spoke to a guy who was captain at the time and congratulated him on just winning his semi final knockout and scoring 38 pts in the monthly s/ford in the same round.
I know you can't do that before anyone jumps in but he said everyone does it

I see your white writing but....
can you not play two comps in the same round? what about Club championship that at my place is scratch, handicap and another trophy as well thats best 2 out of 3 rounds?
I see guys at my club playing a knockout match and finishing all putts because its on the course designated for the stableford medal that day.

You can't play match play and stroke play at the same time

good to know, I didnt realise that as it pretty much never comes up, this will be an interesting conversation next time someone says at my course they are doing it.

If tee times are hard to get, i know some people will sign up for the medal to ensure they have a slot, but actually play their KO then on the sly.

you can't play matchplay and strokeplay at the same time as penalties for breaking rules are frequently different.
