44 points off 28.

20+ handicaps sweeping the boards at the moment, might be that the course is running fast and no rough? Makes distance less of a barrier. Might be the system. Guess we’ll find out when the rough comes up.

Course is CR 69.1 Par 69

Monthly medal Div 1 (CH of 14 or better) was won by nett 67 playing off 10. Top 7 places (nett 67 to 71) playing off 10-14. Next 7 places (nett 71-73) were single figures. Remaining places rather randomly mixed.

Div 2 was rather randomly mixed - but of note was that it was won by a nett 59 by player off 23 - HI 22.5. (Second was nett 66). Don't know the person but seems he has only 3 "Q scores" in the system and has HI 14.5 for his next game. Also interesting that you had to go to 31st place to find anyone with an index higher than the old limit of 28.

What all that proves - no idea.

We had a medal at the weekend won with a Nett 61 (par 70) but cannot level any blame towards the WHS or the player.

The player in question is a long term member with a full history of scores going back many years....his old Congu h'cap was 15 and at the weekend his playing handicap was 16.

Next best scores were all nett 67's.

Still have seen no evidence from our club that scores are wildly different as a direct result of the WHS.

Net 65 from a 15 handicap won our medal.

Course Rating 71.3, Par 70.

I came in 2nd place with net 68

Only 2 out of 130 better than net 70.

The scoring seems perfectly reasonable. Except 1 poor new member who has been given a +5 handicap based on a few cards handed in in 2018!

MIght take a few comps to sort oout the handicaps. BUt the bigger question is have they seen big reductions due to the new system. That is what it should sort out, the people that the old system could never catch up with.

This is why scores need to be submitted every time you play, so these bandits can get chopped before they get a big haul in a comp.

Or clubs should stipulate a player must have 3 scores submitted in the last month prior to a comp to be allowed entry. Something along those lines.

There are lots of people that simply don't get the chance to play that often.

Just over a month in and a good number of comps played most comps one by somebody 2 or 3 under handicap so no major change there.

Just one exceptional score from a 7 handicap player with an away handicap.

So what happens to a player who can only play once a week?

Well last time I checked theres 4 weeks in a month, so 1 round a week is four which would be OK for entry. No problem

Great if you play in area where you can play every weekend for example, on a personal note I do not play some weekends just because of the weather .

We had a 31 handicap win the singles qualifying stoke event with a net 64 then no surprise won the first stableford event with a 44.

Been chopped to 21. The singles wasnt qualifying but his handicap should have been adjusted as hes a new young golfer.

Recorded no higher than a 7 over 2 rounds. That's not the scoring of a 31 handicapper.
