As for Lent I'm not giving up anything. My (practising Christian) sister gives up something - e.g. chocolate - each year and is miserable as sin for the entire period. So, from that single, flimsy piece of evidence I deduce that giving stuff up for Lent is bad for your Karma and therefore will refrain from giving up anything.
