What are you drinking tonight?

Right, makes sense - I better stock up on the good stuff cos no doubt it won't taste so good for long if Carlsberg have owt to do with it... 🤣
Moretti was bought by Heineken.
Heineken closed the Moretti brewery and switched production to one of their own breweries.
Italian government forced Heineken to sell the Moretti brewery to Castello.
Heineken still own the brand name Moretti.

A pint of Moretti is actually a Heineken from a Heineken brewery.
A pint of Castello from the old Moretti brewery is a Moretti.

Mel was talking about Poretti. A different beer altogether

I read his post. I don't believe I missed anything.
He speculated that Poretti might be Aldi's version of Moretti. I found that interesting. So I added my view on lager brands.

I mentioned that Moretti is really Heineken and that Castello make lager at the Moretti brewery.
Poretti, Moretti, Heineken and Castello might all be different lagers altogether. But not necessarily what they each appear to be by brand name.

This evening, I've had a couple of glasses of South African Pinotage 14%.

Picked up some Poretti yesterday in Aldi - I'd imagine it's their own brand of Moretti - anyway, it's nice.🍻

Aldi do a lovely big bottle called Rossini too, my usual drink is peroni and it’s a little like that except probably a lot cheaper, I’m sure the big bottle is about £1.40, pours perfect into a pint glass after a day or so chilling in fridge.

They also do birra mapelli I think it’s called which is their take on Moretti I think, similar brown bottle, it’s okay but would definitely recommend trying a Rossini

On the subject of Italian lagers, I was in Naples last year and a favourite was this little stumpy brown bottle, red and white label called Ichnusa, it was lovely and could get it everywhere, seemed to be their stock beer every shop, restaurant etc.

Yet to find it anywhere here
