Definitely Par 5's

My Stroke Ave this year is

Par 3 - 3.43
Par 4 - 4.69
Par 5 - 5.20

and I've not had a good year!

We have some tricky Par 3's and some long Par 4's but all 4 Par 5's are straight forward.

Par 5's. Can usually hit a green in regulation. We have two 200+ yard par 3's, one in the 180's, two in the 170's and only one recognised short hole. These all play hard (for me) and if I can score on these I know I'm going to score well

According to HDID I'm marginally better at Par 5s than 3s or 4s which I guess you would expect as I'm usually hitting my 3rd shot with a wedge and our Par 3s and half of our Par 4s are tricky

According to HDID my par average on the par 5's is the best......

This is for the last 6 months.....
Par 3's....................... 3.8
Par 4's....................... 5.0
Par 5's....................... 5.2

I voted no preference and a quick check on HDID backs this up, over the last 6 months I've been 3.8, 4.8 and 5.8

I think the answer to the question will depend very much on the course though, all our par 5s are over 500 yards.

The vast majority of my Birdies have been on Par 3s with some on Par 5s and a few on Par 4s, so I guess that's the way I'd rate them.

Not a huge hitter, so tend to be hitting quite a long club into Par 4s. Happy hitting FW off deck, so get into reasonable range on many Par 5s.

I seem to be fairly accurate with irons off the tee right now so par 3's have been very kind to me. I'd say par 5's are my worst as i've tended not to play percentage golf and plot my way around the hole instead of going for it in 2 and often scrambling for a par. I do love a tight par 4 that's not too long but can punish you, it's holes like that where a par or better gives you a massive lift.

Par 5's by a long way

Even ones were you cannot reach in 2 is normally a chip and putt birdie attempt. Long par 3's and 4's are alway much more of a test than a long par 5.

par 5 with a decent drive, half decent 2nd shot, should reduce the hole to a short par 3. always disappointed with a dropped shot on a par 5! they should be food and drink when playing well.

Like someone else said I think it depends on the course. There is a course near me that has a number of par 4's that you can drive the green on and the ones that you can't it leaves you with a pretty short chip in. To prove I am not talking forum drives:
4-235
7-273
8-287
11-272
17-256

There are a couple that are over 300 which are obviously more difficult but you can try and make up for it on the shorter ones. The course is very open as well so can still make par if you are a bit wayward.

Went for the par 5's like most have.

Our par 3's are tricky holes and to come away with a par is a real result on any of them
Par 4's are very variable in length / difficulty as they are most places so some I love but there are as many that I DO NOT love!
Par 5's at our place - just two of them and reachable in 3 so offer up birdie / par chances each round.

I chose Par 3's then checked my HDID stats and that backs up my choice

Mainly as no driver is required I tend to be more consistent on these holes, my driving is so hit and miss any Par4 or 5 can become a treble bogey.

Par5's by a good chunk. Can hit 3 of our par5's in 2 and the other 2 get very close in 2. Leaves alot of room for birdies.
Howdidido stats for the last 6 months:

Par3- 3.3
Par4- 4.6
Par5- 5.1

Didn't realise that par4's where my worst scoring holes though, that does interest me. I feel play par3's worst, but obviously not.
