What age do you think you will live to?

When I was at school I sat down at a desk one day and the number 112 was written on the corner, I knew then for certain that I would live to that age.

I now find myself over halfway there and realising that I don't want to live to that age as the later years will be in a state of decrepitude.

Like most I hope to carry on until health is an issue and then do something about it. But the innate desire to live is incredibly strong and as you age your state of health normally changes gradually, you get used to it and want to hang on for a few more years, which makes the final act of ending it all not as simple and easy as we like to think.

What a lovely subject for a Saturday morning.

Working in the hospital I see a lot of people for whom another day is a bonus and sadly for whom today will be their last. Carpe diem for me these days and try and enjoy what I do and surround myself with friends and loved ones

Personally never gave this a moments thought until a few years ago , then out of the blue, bang, 4 cardiac arrests in a very short space of time, very lucky to be here at all so i just smile whenever i wake up .
Do live as you wish to be remembered and, gather as many memories as you can .Time is indeed precious so make the most of yours.

I am sure within my lifetime we will see age altering medicine and techniques.

What age I live to will depend on if I am already too old or too poor to benefit from them.
