So yesterday we had a wedding to go to, all was good, got to the reception and had a quick drink. Then me and my mate took our kids to the park next door, this is where it all goes wrong. Just as we are leaving, my 3yr old lad gets pushed off the slide, so I run over to pick him up and sort him out, no big deal. But as I am doing that, my daredevil of a daughter (5) decides to tackle the monkeys bars. These are at least 8ft if not more.... She isn't the strongest girl, so disaster strikes. My mate saw it and was sprinting toward her to catch, but he was too late. Splat. Fist thing was the blood, the grass had that plastic honeycomb under it, so her forehead, nose and mouth is all bleeding, but then she says her wrists and elbows hurt.

So we pack up all the kids, phone grandma to meet us at the hospital. Wife then decides to have a panic attack, (she is a worrier!) so anyway, go through to x-ray and we have a double fracture of the left wrist and a double fracture of the right wrist. So yes, 2 broken wrists. 2 arms in plaster for the next month and a face that looks smashed up with honeycomb imprinted on it. Poor little thing. Stuck a pic up on my twitter last night, but there we go. Hope your weekends are going slightly better than mine!

Saw the pic Rooter but was too tired to reply - feel for your Girl
Hope she gets better soon
Just shows you can't leave them for a minute and you can't be 2 places at the same time...
Hope Mrs Rooter has come down from the ceiling..

Feel for you mate. Kids do know how to find danger everywhere don't they. I wouldn't worry though, kids also know how to make the most out of every situation. She'll be running you round in circles in no time....

So I DONT have the only accident prone kids - phew!

We've been so many times to casualty that the last time they just gave us a couple of tubes of 'skin glue' to take home

Unlucky mate, hope she makes a speedy recovery... kids are pretty resilient, they're made to bounce! :p

sorry to hear that mate, it's horrible.

My little boy had his eyebrow glued after falling over on a gravel path a few months ago, I felt awful for him, obviously minor compared to this but the worst thing was trying to make him understand what was happening.

She'll be fine in a couple of months, I just hope it doesn't knock her confidence

thanks for the replies guys, been pretty mental here. she is coping really well as you would imagine, struggling to sleep but that's not surprising! got a specialist appointment on wed to be re-x-ray'd and hopefully they will put splints on both rather than a full cast... fingers crossed!

Very sorry to hear this. I remember when my daughter broke her arm playing tennis, it was quite emotional. All the best to Miss Rooter.

Hope your wee girl recovers soon, kids generally do, and don't let it make you over cautious in the future.

Could be worse, a certain somebody broke his daughters arm.
At the hospital I was in such a state I could not even remember her date of birth.
Just a greenstalk break and soon mended though.

For all dads of young children..........when they grab your arms and ask for a whirly....be careful.
