What a week that was!

I started with a massive row by email with our club captain. The EGU said that I should have a .1 addition to my handicap for a round where I retired injured rescinded and our captain, a real pompous pratt, wouldn't do it before the start of our winter league group matches - wont bore you with the details but the .1 meant the difference between 11 or 12 handicap for the whole of the winter!

Then I saw my consultant and he booked me in for a hip replacement in early December and then - and best of all ... I found that I was to be a grandad for the first time

Then today we won our first league game of the winter from 5 up through 7 to all square after 15, to a one up win - that was a rollercoaster!

Phew! back to work for a rest tomorrow

Good luck with the op. A friend of mine has just had the same and is playing golf again after 7 weeks recovery. He is also pain free for the first time in years.

I had my right hip replaced 2 years ago and played 9 holes after 2 weeks and 1 day. I reckon the left one will be 4 to 6 weeks as my (quite considerable) weight finishes on the left side

Your not being stupid at all as the reason is more about my particular club.

There are, from now on, no competitions that will be qualifying for handicap, except the odd monthly mid week one that I wouldn't normally be able to make, pretty much until the end of March. We play winter league as a 4BBB competition , otherwise it is just friendlies so, to get a handicap change it would really have to be via an away competition.

Definitely in line for Pings now - a GP and 2 new hips? What more do you need to put those Pings in the bag..?

Don't tell anyone but I bought a set of Pings when the i10's first came out and didn't like them and replaced them with some Mizzy's - that was a few sets ago!

Final tag ... the Captain emailed me to say the I had finally got the .1 back and my handicap is now officially 11.4 - he finally did something right at last!
