What a load of rubbish

Simple, clean with professional photos. Details of all facilities and rates. Most don't have overhead images of each hole. That with yardages to specific hazards would be amazing.

Yardages are unlikely as that would cut their sales of £3 to £5 shotsavers, probably already down due to GPS and Rangefinders.
Then again of of shotsavers are overpriced, out of date cheap tat.

Who is it? :D

Reveal all Bob - or the V Easy gets it!

AW, it wasn't yours, but....... now having seen yours... :(
Be gentle with the V-Easy

Believe it or not, our website is actually in two parts. The first part shows the clubhouse/course, etc and the second part is for the members which has sections for juniors, etc.

I agree it is poor though - something I have raised to the website administrator but he stated that they'd purchased the cheapest website possible (The TopFlite of websites if you will) and that certain functions weren't available.

I've asked for a forum as I thought it would be a good idea for the members to chat online and organise games, etc but, once again, was told that a forum wasn't available as the wesbsite didn't have the capacity.

I have no knowledge of websites and their construction so I can't argue with him but it's something I'll be asking the commitee to look at.

We have a lovely clubhouse, a good, challengning course and the website lets them both down.

I was recently looking at a forum members link to their website and oh dear.
At first look, not bad but that was about it.
The whole site only had 4 pictures.
Nothing about the pro/ proshop, lessons, Juniors, facilities, fixtures and a rubbish map of how to get there.
What do you look for on a golf club website.

I have to admit our isnt spectacular and it could do with some updates......I find it lacking in certain areas that would appeal to all.......
It describes our course not in great detail but it would be great for it to have a hole by hole review....

I think ours is possibly above average in the information available for visitors - perhaps lacking a bit in the photo department though, although how many people actually trawl through every picture before playing the course?

Opinion seems to be divided on having a private member's section, but I'm for it. Ours contains member's directory, contact details, h/caps and to my mind this info should not necessarily be available to all and sundry. It also includes info for members on all sections of the club (social, juniors, men's, ladies, vets, etc), on-line booking system for comps only, management info - committee minutes, etc, etc.

If anyone is interested ....

Come on Bob, name and shame.
Just checked on ours and even if im a bit biased, i must say ours is excellent compared to some i have seen. Pictures and descriptions of all the holes and a yardage chart plan view as well.
Have to agree with Leftie about the private members section, wouldnt want my details banded about.

My club's site has recently been revamped and is hundred's of times better than it was.

Trouble is its still crap.......

Potentially lots of info but when you dig in there's not much going on.

If you want to see a good website then look at ours - http://didsburygolfclub.com

If you don't think it's one of the best I'll eat my hat. As an example, go into the members section, then click on the members tab at the top, then look at 'course analysis'. Every member can analyse his scores over whatever period they like.

Come on Bob spill the beans the suspense is killing us.... :D :D

Oh good god Bob its mine isnt it :D :D :D
Iv just checked there and we've got 4 excuses for pictures in wait for it "A Gallery"
I take it all back what i said earlier ours is Sh@te :D :D

What do you look for on a golf club website.

I have to say I like to see some decent photos. Every course has some scenic holes and good-looking areas. I reckon even I could find one or two better ones for my club.
Mine is average (I guess) but probably not enticing enough.

I like this one

not so keen on this though...

This could be better

talking of which, I have to ask....why does there need to be an "enter" sign? It's not like I'm visiting the site to not wish to view what's on offer?

We have just updated ours, and now includes photos from every tee,and also looking back from the greens. They were done by a pro (Photographer not golfer) and make the course look really inviting which is what it is all about.
Why not put the link on so we can have a look at it? :D

Now that looks very very nice, good pic's and layout.

Thanks for feedback.

The website took some time to produce, but it is a great advert for the club, and worth all the hard work of those involved. I am sure it will encourage visitors/societies to play who have perhaps had never heard of the course.

Just wish it looked like the pictures today, and not covered in snow again!
