Last week full of cold, couldn't play , felt like sh*t.

Today sun is shining, Light hearted team 4 ball competition at the club (St Georges Day Trophy), basically gross scores are counted as follows,

Par 3's best 3 gross count
Par 4's best 2 gross count
Par 5's best gross counts and on 18th all 4 gross scores count.

Add up total subtract 1/2 combined handicap to give competition score to nearest .5. Well we end up with 134.5 current clubhouse lead - consistent golf from nowhere, last year was won with 138. One of the team a 13 Hcp scored a very handy 79 gross which helped us no end.

It just shows how this game can pick you up as well as kick you in the shins. Now I am looking forward to the next comp with a bit more confidence. :)

well done mate, nice suprise then, hows oakridge ? think last time i played they had re laid a whole green think it was the first par 3, nice course, lad i know has left purley to join oakridge Gez Dixon you know him ?

It was a nice surprise and we had 2 two's to boot including an eagle on the first. We were hunting around for one of the balls and someone on the second tee said 'I would look in the hole if I were you' - some days you just know the golfing gods are with you.

They put a new green on the 4th last year - the short par 4 in the bottom corner. To be honest it needs time it's certainly the slowest on the course.

Like everywhere at the minute the course needs some rain.

I don't know Gez but there are a lot of ex Purley Chase members there now.

You'll have to come and have a knock sometime.

thanks for the offer, will take you up on that, cant believe after a winter like that everyones praying for rain now, in april :D played brandon yesterday, course was like the middle of july
