Had a time share at Vale Do Lobo, but in those days there were just 27 holes. It also cost us about £15 a round. Hate to think what green fees are now.

played them both last year, in march.

thought the ocean course was gorgeous, really enjoyed it. The Royal wasn't in particularly good nick, but I can imagine it being just as good when its tidied up a bit.

10 euros for a guinness in the bar though

VdL Ocean is a great course with stunning scenery when you hit the coastal part.

Don't get buying "home" brands whilst abroad like Guinness, UK newspapers, Irn Bru or Irish Pubs, Full English Breakfast, Sunday lunch etc???

I played the ocean a few years ago, it was nice but not amazing. I've yet to play a course abroad that compares to some of the links and heathland courses over here.

Totally agree

By coincidence I went out in my Villa Sol golf shirt tonight.

We had a twilight deal to play the Royal course on the day that England played USA in the 2010 World Cup. Tee off time was 3pm and by the time we had done the 18 the place was deserted as everyone was in the clubhouse so we nipped onto the Ocean course and managed to do 11 holes before it got dark.

Interesting thread as I have been looking at returning to Val de Lobo having enjoyed a non-golfing holiday there almost a decade ago. I've heard mixed reviews of the cost and whether or not it is warranted given the condition of the course.
